Update:
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An ordinance to help pave the way for Huntington's first indoor gun range was unanimously approved Monday night by Huntington City Council.
The overwhelming support came for what council members claim will be a boost to the the city's economy.
If approved, the range will create 11 to 15 jobs.
The ordinance passed Monday makes it legal to discharge a weapon at an indoor gun range.
Mayor Steve Williams said he's anxious to see the impact the gun range will have.
"I'm looking forward to having the gun range built in Huntington," Williams said. "That will certainly be a draw to individuals. There is no such no thing in this region."
There are still some hoops to jump through before the gun range gets the green light.
However, the developer Shane Conn says, if all goes according the plan, the range could be up and running by the end of this year.
