  • Speaking about a new FB coach.  Do we go for it, and Keep Coach K, and staff.  Hire a MU native that we all like, and hope he is as good as believed, or go all out, and take a chance on a non-MU man who may end up being a great coach, but not a great Marshall Guy, as we perceive that to be.

  • 1 Hiring a new coach like Snyder or his drive tells me the program wants to bang away at the BE in 5-6 yrs from now.

2 Keeping Kueck, tells me the pocketboock is tight and they can't afford a new coach.

*Kueck I don't think can get us to the next level, if CUSA is as far as Marshall wants to go then hire Kueck. If Marshall wants to bang at the BE doors then they better find someone else.

  • There's an old saying HZ.  It's not what you know, but who you know.  In WV that held a lot of water when I lived there.  It hold's a lot of water everywhere.  Maybe, you didn't mention the best connection to who you know, or who's in the run'in.  It's a State Thing!

  • The Herd needs to concentrate on CUSA before thinking about the next level.  CUSA is no slouch and will continue to improve with UTEP, Memphis, and So. Miss in the mix.

On the coaching side, most if not all coaching being highly considered have ties with Marshall in some way.  The Herd will be fine (at least I sleep better at night thinking that way.)

  • concentrate on cusa??

fellas, i don't think anyone is concentrating on cusa.

in case you missed it, the powers that be aren't making the necessary investment in our FB program to suceed in cusa...to the point the best FB coach in history and MU/huntington/WV icon retired over it.  this, despite all the talk about what kind of investment would be needed to compete in cusa...in ALL sports.

in case something changes, the greatest rise (from nowhere) in college football history just took a hard  right turn........

this next year or two could make the difference if we are going to continue the rise....or be mediocre or worse.

we start losing.....how hard to you think it's going to be to get money appropriated from the University or state....or donated by supporters.

i'm very worried.  I think some of you should be as well.

  • not worried...............
because by making Kueck the coach, MU keeps same system with a more younger coach who isn't afraid to throw it down field on occassion.

Marshall football at worst goes 7-4.

    Every game is very winnable.
VT will be the toughest game.

I am banking on Herd winning CUSA East and winning first CUSA Championship.
    IT'S TAILGATING SEASON!

    I'm worried.

I'm not an alarmist but for the first time in 25 years, I believe that I have seen a change in the "Football is King" attitude at Marshall.  One thing we can look forward to though is that great men's swimming team that will take football's place. :(

My school has shown me their direction and prioritized them:

    1.  Title IX
    2.  Olympic sports facilities
    3.  Football facilities
    4.  Coaches/salaries

Granted, we need help in the first two but to place them above Football is a mistake imo.  They should come along for the ride, not take the wheel.

Big donor money comes from football.  Just because much of the money has come from "other" donors lately, it's the exception and won't be the primary reserve for us to excel in CUSA let alone the BE.  jmo.

  • Blade has it nailed. Football is driving the bus in the NCAA. Why should we de-emphasize it at such a critical time? The consultant's report should NOT be the only input on Marshall's direction. Start making noise brothers and sisters................

  • Perhap's we may have became way too competitive, for the powers that be in the STATE.  Maybe this is a State of WV thing!  WVU, has felt threaten by MU's success of competitive recognition within the state, and this may very well be their only way of dealing with it.
