  • Hal was my hero when I was in high school and his number hangs high in the Wachovia center where the 76's play.I met him at a Marshlall game years ago;and he was very nice and quite.His handshake was very soft.

    As I recall, he shot foul shots as a jump shot? Even in the NBA?

  • For many, many years, even down to today, the 1966 NBA champ 76ers, with Wilt Chamberlain, Chet Walker, power forward Lucious Jackson (I believe), another small guard, Wally Jones (??), and MU's own Hal Greer were considered among the very greatest of NBA teams all times.

    Greer was also named one of the top 50 NBA players ever.  Great son of MU and native of Huntington, WV!!!!!

  • A young Billy Cunningham was sixth man on that team (actually the '66-'67 Sixers) that went 68-13 and beat the Warriors and Rick Barry for the championship...
