  • I always regarded John Rinka, a DIII guy at Kenyon College in Ohio in the late '60's, as the best shooter I've ever seen...I would also place Bunny Gibson, Brian Magid (Maryland) and Joe Hassett (Providence/NBA) in the elite long-range bomber category...but after watching Curry's performance at OKC I just changed my mind...just incredible stuff from all angles, and he also does it with hands in his face and in pressurized situations...as I stated in another thread, this all evolved from the D'Antoni's in Phoenix and is also at the core of what Dan has brought to Herd basketball...

  • Short answer: yes

His head coach was one of the great shooters in the world in his day also.
In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.

  • I always thought Larry Bird was the best I had ever seen since Rick Barry, but I'd have to say Stephen Curry is the best ever!

  • He lost the 3 point contest this year....It's hard to say really because if you are just talking about shooting without being guarded there are many guys that can get in a rhythm and hit shot after shot....I've heard stories of Mark Price hitting hundreds of free throws in a row without missing...Steve Nash could also shoot an entire practice and only miss one or two out of a hundred shots from the field....I think Dirk and Kevin Durant can shoot it pretty good....

  • According to Oscar Robertson, in his interview with ESPN, he believes that a ton of shooters in his day were better than Curry because nowadays no defense is being played.  However, I will disagree with the "Big O" and say that Curry could hang with those shooters of yesteryear.

  • I believe The Big O's comments were in relation to how you can play defense more so than the fact that no defense is played. In the 80's Curry would have been an outside specialist because his frame could not have handled the penetration game that he also has the luxury of playing now, which opens up the outside game more for him.

Best ever is pretty hard to agree on.  The risk reward wasn't there before the three point line, and they also didn't keep track of how many 20' shoots guys made before their was a line on the floor. So who knows.

  • This 50 year old diary farmer hit over 5000 free throws in a row, that's a little better than Mark Price's 500 in a row, lol....From watching the video they make it sound like he didn't even play basketball growing up, interestingly....
