  • Will be playing in the NBA Summer League for Charlotte. Hope he tears it up, and glad he is getting a shot.

    Can anyone else confirm?

  • Article in the HD says so.  Also says he was offered a contract by the Philadelphia Eagles.  So both he and Rockhead are here now.

HUNTINGTON - Michael Jordan is looking at James Kelly, and that's never bad for a basketball player.

Kelly, a 22-year-old May graduate of Marshall University, is joining the NBA summer league team of the Charlotte Hornets. Jordan, regarded by many people as the greatest player ever, is Charlotte's majority owner and CEO.

  • Very good to hear, and this is great news for our basketball program imo.

Come here and ball out, you will get a shot. I also wonder if our style of play will help him going forward. Might be a bit more of a learning curve for guys from other programs.

  • It should also serve as a showcase for an overseas stint should the NBA thing not pan out...or he could also find his way to  less-lucrative employment in the D-League...

  • Did Not Play - Coaches decision, along with 5 others (out of 14 total on the team).  Hornets play again at 5PM today (July 4).

  • James Kelly played his best game of the Orlando Summer League today, his last game. He played in 2 of the previous 4 games. Today he played 17 minutes scoring 10 points on 3-6 shooting including 2-4 from behind the arc. He also had 5 rebounds.

  • I don't think James really tore them up.  I look for him to either end up in Europe or perhaps an NBA developmental team.  I thought he would have been more dominant.

I think players fit certain systems.  And James Kelly really played well with the DD  system.........

Would love to see Kelly end up in Houston playing for MD.
