  • Kristen Mayo from East Carter HS, committed to Marshall for the fall of 2017.  Mayo is a FOUR STAR recruit out of Kentucky.  She is a PG/SG who is a 5' 8" combo and plays for the very successful West Virginia Thunder AAU team coached by Scott Johnson.

This is a big recruit to commit to the Herd.  Congrats to Matt Daniel and his staff for their hard work.
Retired 10 years early to follow Herd sports.
Those 10 years have been marvelous.

  • Grant Traylor: Marshall women land East Carter's Mayo

    Quote
Mayo had previously committed to East Tennessee State, but decommitted in March to re-open her recruitment.

She said there is a big difference in the maturity that went into her decision the second time around.

"The mindset and perspective that they have on basketball and everything surrounding it is what I liked," Mayo said. "The first time, I felt like I rushed myself. This time, I took my time. They (Daniel and staff) wanted me to take my time because they wanted me happy. Honestly, that is where I'm happy."

The H-D article on her commitment.

Is this for the upcoming season or for 2017-18?

  • This is first time I have ever discussed Marshall women's basketball with family or friends.

Love the direction of the program right now.
