  • Listening to a Stampede podcast (Dave Wilson) and there were numerous mentions of this being the year before THE year.  Seems some here have said the same or similar?

    Next year:  @ WKU / @ MTSU / @ Cincy / @ NC state

Maybe more so in 2018?  Chase is a Senior as is Bee and Davis.  Yulee's a Junior.  MTSU and  WKY at home, NC state at home, South Carolina in Columbia.

  • Because Selby and Van Horn are seniors it might be tit for tat. Still concerned about the WRs(Clark sounds like a nice add) but I like this D a lot.

  • I think we should be good with Litton. Doc has enough good players around him that they should challenge 16, 17 and 18.

  • WKU loses everything after this year.

My guess is Brohm leaves after this year if he gets an opportunity and they plummet back to earth.

If they don't find a decent QB, they won't be all that this year, too.

  • As long as Heater is here, we have a shot every year.  What gives us a chance at a great year is how Litton matures and grows.  That could be the next three years, 17 and 18, just 18, or never.  I tend to believe that he will be much better this year and make the WRs look better instead of waiting for the WRs to make him look better.  I've been looking forward to this season for too long to already start worrying about 2017 anyway.

    Agreed.

With Chase Litton, any year could be the year for the next 3 years. Good time to be a Marshall fan.

Exactly, but with a RARE 7 home game schedule in 2016, I'm looking forward to a LOT OF GOOD HERD FOOTBALL THIS SEASON!!!!  2017, and beyond, will come quick enough (TOO QUICK for me and a lot of my fellow GEEZERS on this site, I'm afraid!).  ;D ;D

  • One thing that we have been spoiled by is the incremental and profound development of our quarterbacks. Cato, Leftwich, Chad, etc. have gone from ok to good to great and we anticipate that that will be Chase's trajectory. It is easy to forget the stuttering progress of Bernie or the Anderson or the injury and mental lapses of Stan Hill.  Everything Chase is doing seems to be putting him in that growth trajectory. If that happens, we have three very good years ahead of us. I would like to have an answer in my pocket at WR, but I am pretty sure three guys will step up.

Exactly...but that also goes for the entire team as a whole.
Doc has been bringing in, overall, better players than we've had before. This allows us to set the standard and the performances higher...expectations and everything.
So definitely each year can be our year.

Plus this is a very favorable schedule with very winnable games.

This is the hardest schedule we've had in a long time.
