  • The Ville fans are at again about the Herd as a"stripe the stadium game". I happen to pay a visit to their site and you wouldn't believe we're being talked about more than FSU and Clemson combined.

  • Looking today at available tickets... and there is a lot. We better step up or its going to be a funny looking stripe the stadium event.

Hey, Big City, you may be on to something!!  Maybe MU will be the "first" in all of College football to come up with a "Quadruple Stripe the Stadium" event:  Green, White, Red and Black.  If the Cards knock off Clemson (or is it Florida State?) the week before they play the Herd, I imagine we'll see a throng of visiting fans in the Joan similar to what the EER fans produced in their 2 games in H-town.  Unless, of course, Herd fans start buying tickets for the U of L game heavily in the couple of weeks prior to the game.

  • The game will likely be sold out.

BTW I have no problem with opposing fans being confident, but we all know it doesn't mean anything....as our play at Ohio has showed.  There is some real misinformation though:

    - some of them think game is at noon.  I believe it was already slated for 8pm
    - some say the 0-4 doesn't matter since they are 13-5 overall.  Someone should remind them we haven't lost to them since we went 1-A
    - they say our defense was not good last year.  I mean I guess 2 of top 3 teams we played (Purdue and WKY) both put up 30+ points but we held SM down pretty well thanks to TO's

    Should be fun....spot the ball

I can't wait! Their fans have very short memories, (hence 0-4) and since moving to the ACC, they seem to think they're on the same level as FSU, Clemson, etc..Yes, the Ville has a very talented team, but so do we.

We have a much better defense this year, than last believe it or not. We're stronger, more athletic up front and quicker on the edges. Our secondary will be solid. I can't wait to tee it up.

  • IMO our previous success against them means nothing, but those fans are vastly underestimating our defense and the fact that we had a freshman starting QB last year.

Bottom line is, we're more athletic and better as a team this year. I'm hoping we can make it 5 in a row. I get the feeling the Ville fans have a very bad feeling about playing us at home, most want admit it though. We seem to be talked about more, than FSU, and Clemson.

  • Agree....and a few more vocal message board posters rarely represent the fanbase in general.  I hope we don't have ACC refs :P

I don't think any team ever wants ACC refs.

  • I'd say reading that thread about 75% are level headed and respectful fans that realize they were once in our shoes, and know the game isn't going to be a cakewalk.

The other 25% think it should be an easy win, but most of the other posters are defending the respect Marshall mantra.

So they aren't "At it again".

Thunder, to me, most of the Villes  fans are very arrogant! I only seen a few posters that feel we want be an easy game . Most of the Ville's fans are talking as if they have arrived as world beaters. They feel we shouldn't even be on the same playing field with them.

  • On balance, I think the comments were respectful of Marshall. Much more so than I would have expected. Overall, not really a dis-respectful bulletin board.
I enjoyed reading the threads. Should be an interesting game. We will be definite underdogs, likely by several points (double digits?). But, yes, we have a chance because it is in H-ton. But we need our fans to show up in big numbers and not let L fill those seats.

  • I just like how similar they are to us...

    Apparently their fans can't coordinate.
They all have that one negative Nancy on their board.
    They argue perception.
They bring out records and numbers to a stubbornly long point.
    They like Jim's spaghetti.

Truth is Marshall is very capable of beating Louisville. The team they kept referencing to, was young. We also lost to wku's greatest team in their history.
Louisville, still, isn't considered a powerhouse. Having gone...8-5 last year? They are not immune to screwing up and our game is in perfect position.
We both enter unbeaten, no doubt their perception will change.

Someone should remind them that Easton makes better baseball bats.

Amen to that they are the worst in the country, I am guessing a crew from a neutral conference.

  • This should be exactly the type of game our guys MOST want to play! The perfect game. A top 25 big conference school with some notoriety, a regional foe, that IS actually 'better than us', but that we are within striking distance of, and we get them at home. That should be the type of game that made you work out extra hard all spring and summer to improve yourself to get ready for. The type of game that Doc and company will prepare and scheme extra hard for. THAT is what it takes for the current incarnation of Marshall Football, where we are right now, to beat a top 25.

We used to do that type of thing from time to time, yes? It is because our players and coaches knew they had to prepare extra to honor the Green and White, so they did. (That, plus some NFL difference-makers on the roster didn't hurt either.)

Now if this current group of Herdsters thinks they are already 'all that', and that somehow we are more or less even with Louisville already, so we'll just show up, flip a coin, and let the chips fall where they may, then we will be in for a woodshedding. IMO.

Get your @$$es ready, and THEN spot the ball

  • Louisville lost every game they were supposed to last yr plus two bubble games in Houston and @Pitt. They do have a bunch of returning starters so I figure they will be favored but not by a bunch. I don't think they woulda won at WKU last yr.
