On the Herd's second drive of the third quarter, Marshall lined up for a third-and-10, but a look at the line of scrimmage prompted Litton to call a run play. King took the delayed handoff on the left side, broke a tackle and went in for a 30-yard score.

"Let me tell you one thing about Chase Litton," King said. "He is so much, and that's big playing the quarterback position because you've got to know when something is going out, we can change it to this. 'It's going to work.' He changed it, and it was a touchdown."

Marshall found itself in the situation again on the last play of the third quarter, facing third-and-14. Again, Litton saw the look and got into a run fit and King made the Monarchs pay with a 17-yard run that ended the quarter.
