I am not a fan of some of Leggs play calling and this chew clock but I will tell you what I saw yesterday.  Early on Marshall had some dropped passes.  It happens.  ODU has a horrible run defense so why not keep feeding your backs and wear them down.  If everyone remembers when Marshall used to go hurry up our defense was so trash because they were on the field the entire game.  Marshall is changing the way "WE" as fans want to see our offense but guess what.  Marshall is 5-1 (2-0) in CUSA.  Dont give me this bull %^&* well those other teams have bad records.  We all started 0-0 and they have as many D1 scholarships as Marshall does.

I always wonder who the great teams we were beating in the 90s.  Who was the great teams the 97-99 beat?   South Carolina?  Temple?  I will give people Clemson but they were 6-6 if I recall correctly. I remember a blocked FG that helped the 98 team beat a I-AA game.   The MAC was not the MAC of the early 2000s or now.  Go back and look at the records.  Saying that beating all those teams weren’t indicative of just how good those teams were. We are. Or playing for a spot in an access game so I don’t give a crap about how good a team is. Just win is all I care about.  Very few if any had us 5-1 at this point.  The NC state game changed on two trick plays and 2 turnovers. We could have won that game as easily as we lost.   All I know is we are 5-1 have a few problems at time but are 5-1.  It sure Beats 1-5.  Plus it is better to peak late and we are no where near peaking yet.

People are putting the pruett years in those 90's you talk about, like the early 2000's. Like you said we beat a Clemson team away that was 6-6 in the ACC and lost by 3 to NC Florida St. So lets look at #6 Kansas St on the road. Or how about #21 BYU that we beat and dominated so much defensively that their QB was ready to fight his offensive lineman on the field. What about losing at Ohio St on a last second 53 yd FG? What about 1st year in 1A football we play Ole Miss to the brink and show case Moss and Pennington on first play of scrimmage? And there are GREAT memories on and on back then. Some of those were wins against very good teams and some were very close losses. But all the "great memories" seem to come from those years. Heisman candidates (2) and almost 3. All that stuff was on the National level not the conference USA level.

I'm not seeing anyone here who is not glad we are 5-1 despite the weak teams beaten.  In fact, everyone here wishes we would have beaten NC State to be 6-0.  People see some things they think could be better and they comment on that.  We only beat Miami O. by 5 points, which it took 2 KO returns for TDs and a pick 6 TD to do it.  Weak Kent was only a 3 TD win.  Charlotte was only a 14-3 win.  Then after 3 Quarters we were only up on ODU by 14-3.

Sure we are 5-1, but there are two problems with that. (1) It makes people believe that unless we get the offense rolling we could possibly be beaten by the better teams we will soon play. (2) If we keep winning we are going to want to be ranked, and we are going to have a hard time convincing voters to rank us if we are only beating Charlotte 14-3, and only up on ODU 14-3 after 3 Qs.

And my last post is the very reason you had more rabid fans back then across our community. Part of it was coming out of 1AA were we dominated and then kept it going. Boise St looked at us and said we want to be like that. And we were putting more people in the NFL and had some big names on our team at a national level. It just seems like there were so many great memories back then. domination at times. Another example....Travis Prentice ESPN darling all world, can't miss NFL, records broken, one of the best backs in the country by all experts (and he was one heck of a back) And we go down there in 99 (I was there) and Prentice has minus yardage rushing in the first half as did their entire team. Think about that - yardage on offense the entire first half. That was the most dominating defensive performance I ever witnessed at any level. And the #21 BYU game was right there also. All the GREAT memories seemed to happen back then IMO.

I saw a post by Banker on the CUSA board which sums up it. He wrote that we are probably the worse 5-1 team in college football, but it beats being 1-5.

Since you haven't watched much football and continuously predicted that we'd win 1 or so games this year, there are 4 quarters in games.  Sometimes you have to watch them all.
