Talking heads have been gushing on Arizona as a dark horse to take it all.  Buffalo was the much better team.  Guards win in the tournament, gives me hope for The Herd.

I just checked Buffalo's RPI and they are now ranked at #25. Wow.

Given Buffalo's schedule and results, how in the hell are they RPI 25, even after beating AZ? I mean, it just doesn't add up to me. Their best win was 2 wins over Toledo #75 as far as I can tell, before AZ #13. Other than that, they played 5 top 100 RPI teams and lost all 5. So they are 3-5 against the top 100 (the wins were 75, 75, 13), lost three other games (RPIs of 154, 159, and 241), beat a bunch of 100-somethings and 200-somethings, and this makes them #25? Ah well, I guess math just "isn't my strong suit"...

Do point differentials count in RPI?

Most computer modeling does take margin of victory or defeat plus performance against common opponents.
