  • Makes sense to me.  I didn't realize the BB team was lacking in some basic amenities.

Well, the athletic dept does need to step up for the basketball program. I know they say there is going to be a fund raising campaign again. But ill believe basketball gets major changes when i see it. JMO!!!!

I have been in the Cam watching practice more than once when the players played with hoodies on to keep warm.
The shower drains clog regularly and the basketball staff has to be certain to not leave any food out on their desk over night to keep mice/rats out of it.

good for you so have I. not once did I say the cam didn’t need some upgrades. My point was that you completely missed is that chuck is taking unnecessary swipes claiming that as the reason penava was leaving

  • I haven't seen anyone upset with Penava for this decision. Sad, yes because we would love to have him another year, but not mad at him. I've only seen support, appreciation, and Best wishes. But, I guess that makes Landon look better in his own mind.

  • Selfishly I wanted him to stay.  However if he and his family believe training at this facility will better prepare him then good for him.  It's his life to live and his dream to pursue. Best of luck!

  • While many Herd fans I have spoken with wish he had stayed, they also understand the decision made.  Simply put, it was the best decision for him to fulfill a dream.  And the temperature in the gym or any other of Chuckie's issue in the gym had anything to do with it.  We wish Adjin the best.
On the other hand, MU does need upgrades for the basketball facilities.  And at the airport, motels and such.  So upgrading the Henderson center by itself will not bring in the likes of UNC or Villanova to Huntington.  Its a start but you have to see the entire picture and not one aspect.

It's not unnecessary swipes. That would be a huge concern for the people advising Penava.

I see nothing wrong with holding people in the AD accountable. All we hear is “give, give, give”. Too many fans are AD lapdogs and hang on every word that comes out of the Schewey. Personally, I think MH has done a pretty good job and they are trying new things to get fans involved. But they are paid to do their jobs and should be accountable. I hope this rumored fundraising campaign comes to fruition. I will surely participate and hope all Herd fans do as well. We’ll need more than the 370 some that gave to the Vision Campaign.

    Disagree 429,

This wasn't an "underhanded slap"; it was a full frontal, well-deserved bitch-slap.

I doubt we'll ever know if the HVAC & vermin-control problems were deciding issues with the Penavas, but those concerns need to be addressed ASAP.

And they are major concerns. The basketball facilities have been neglected way to long. They better take advantage of the enthusiasm now or else imo.

  • If any fans want to be upset about Penava's decision to leave they have that right.  Just as we could have been a better, deeper team if Thompson wouldn't have left last year.  People have been waiting decades for us to have an elite program, and now that has been affected by Penava's decision to leave.  We will not be as good as we could have been and that will probably cost MU some money.  If Ajdin is going to make pretty good money it's more understood, but if it is to make peanuts in a developmental league while he tries to grain weight.....well that is BS.  The Elite programs can lose players like this and easily replace them the next year.  Penava could have returned and MU would have benefited, and he would have been in a better position to have a pro career.  Just my 2 cents.

  • I dont have a problem if they leave for the nba and to make money. What i would have a problem with is if they take the GT route. For example (and not saying he is even thinking about it) is if jon were to do that after marshall helping him get his year back. That wouldnt set well with me at all. Again just using that as an example.

Well, HM, its been less than a decade since Donnie Jones was here.  8 years now of Herrion and Danny D.  I clearly remember when Jones was here, MU spent a million or two to completely upgrade, revamp, etc., the dressing rooms at the CAM.  Clearly recall a TV interview with DJ, probably on Channel 3, in which he bragged even how NICE the visiting dressing rooms were and how impressed Herd opponents would be.

Now less than 10 years later the drains are clogging??  Sounds to me more like a lack of regular maintenance, basic janitorial services, etc.   Hammy being cheap with the Drano budget?  Yeah, I can really, really see that for sure!!!!

P.S.  Can anyone, ANYONE, on here be absolutely SURE that the Trash barrels around the Joan have been emptied from the last home football game????  I thought not!!!

  • My guess is Peneva will make north of 200k in Europe/elsewhere if the NBA route doesn't work out.  As parents, most of us would have likely advised our kid to go as well.  He really really needs to work on defensive positioning so he isn't the foul magnet he is now.
