  • THIS ^^^ Very honest assessment of the situation. These guys who say we'll be alright with a QB who's never taken a snap at the college level are crazy. Cato wasn't that great his first year. First year QB's, even great one's, are very up and down their first year...make a lot of bad throws...single handedly lose games. Pennington threw 6 picks his first game.

With Green, and I have nothing against him, I don't even think we can get bowl eligible, JMHO. I can see up to 8 loses.

LOL! Unfortunately AT couldn’t throw much today. If he can’t go two practice days in a row, how do we expect him to last a whole season. First hit to the shoulder and he may be done for the year.

Cato's freshman year, with a pathetic Chris Rippon defense, we went 7-6 against a schedule that was infinitely more difficult than our 2018 schedule.  Played a ranked wvu on the road, played ranked VT at home, played (and beat) eventual Big East champ Louisville on the road plus had two ranked conference opponents (Houston and USM).

Saying you see 8 losses with Green just shows you know little about his abilities or the quality and depth of this team on both sides of the ball.   We can win 7 games throwing the ball 10 times a game. Green has shown absolutely no tendency to throw interceptions at a high rate, we have the best receivers in the league. We have a stable of talented running backs and an experienced and talented offensive line.  Oh, and we return almost everyone on the two deep on defense, a defense that gave up less than 20 ppg and is more experienced, talented, and deeper in 2018.

Thomson, if healthy, may be worth one or two extra wins.  He is not the difference between 4 wins and 11. Aaron Rogers isn't worth 7 wins to the Packers (ask anybody who sets over under win totals for Vegas).

  • WE may be a better balanced team with a strong running game and an experience OL to go with it!
Defense looks to be even deeper and more aggressive as well! Kicking game is progressing!

  • Great defense and st goes a long way.  I am excited to see a Tim Cramsey style offense.  Our offense had upside last year but underachieved.  If this OC is the real deal we will improve fast.

  • Pennington threw 6 picks his first game.

And still lead us to victory in that game - on the road.

  • I just read an article on herdzone.com that Alex Thomson has been named on the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list. Man this kid is getting a lot of hype for someone that even played one snap of football at the D-1 level and has been limited in fall camp already. I don’t know what to think of this?

  • Hasaan Klugh, UTEP

What's more embarrassing for the Unitas Award . . . that they listed Klugh as playing at UTEP even though he is Charlotte's QB or that he is listed on this watch list even though he only completed 47% of his passes last year and had more INTs (13) than TDs (10)?

  • Its no Blessing. AT is the real deal. If he can't go for us, our offense will be much worse off.

How do you know? Have you seen him play against FBS competition?

  • AT has at least some experience, even though it's not D-1 ball. Alex is a special talent, there's a reason NFL scouts are here just to check him out.

Until he passes the eye test, it's all hype based on Phil Simms.

  • Green  a yr older and more physically imposing than Cato or Chad in first yr. He will have been through all last yr, spring 2018 and fall camp by Sept 1. More expperienced than Penny or Cato when they first took the field. Maybe faster than either one also.

I see little chance Thompson will start this game, he hasn't taken enough reps in practice to warrant doing that, that doesn't mean he will not be a valuable asset to this team. It appears he needs time with the shoulder and with Green starting Thompson should get that rest. I feel we have three capable QBs and should any one go down with injury I'm comfortable with either of the three taking snaps.

  • I was hoping AT would be able to play, but  it appears that he will not be ready for the opener. If history is any indication, the coaches will keep the offense vanilla to take pressure off the starting QB. I think the Miami game will be tougher than most of us think.

I'm hoping Cramsey doesn't have a vanilla offense package.  Prepare the guys and go full steam ahead.  Enough of the pussy footing around, holding back, playing not to lose, etc.  We are not so much better than anyone in conference that we can afford to be in close games that shouldn't be close.  The only time we should ever slow things down is when the defense needs a break, after a couple quick scores by us, when they are on the field back to back for several series.
