I certainly echo the comments above.  You would think we would get reports from Jannson all the time, but you guys with college-aged kids know that the calls are not as frequent as we would like.
I rely heavily on the reports and pm's from you guys.
All I have ever truly wanted to be was a great dad.

  • great practice today. Jannson and Beyers had a great scrimmage. All of our bigs are really starting to come on. I have been following Marshall basketball since Mike, Randy, Tyrone, Russell and James. And I can truly say, I have never been this excited about basketball season. This team is really moving the ball and starting to gel. Like I said Jannson and Beyers had a great practice. Those 2 long 6'9" kids can really shoot the rock and are aggressive inside rebounding and finishing. We are so hard to guard, its unbelievable. You have to come out and guard Jannson, Beyers, CJ, Jon, West and virtually everyone. Then guys like Jon and Cj will go go right by you. CJ may be one of the quickest juckin' his man in college basketball. You just can't guard him. This is Danny's best team by far and not even close. This year he has so many options. If a guy gets banged up or sick (like last year Peneva against WKU at home) it won't kill us. You have Jannson, Beyers, Bennett, George, Sustic this year that are all really coming on. And then our guards are as good as any ones. Jon picked 2nd team All American and CJ can shoot the lights out and is lightning quick. And he is playing hard every second this year on offense and DEFENSE!!!! CJ is locked in. Just call me pumpin Herdorbust but i'm pumped for this year and can't wait.

And I heard Danny talking to a couple guys at practice. I won't say what he said. But let's just say he thinks we have the potential to have a huge year also.

  • No reason we shouldn't start off 4-0 going in to the Maryland game which I expect to win. I think we are legit and I hope we are ready to start the season. Have to remember it usually takes time for DD's teams to gel, this was also first year of having summer ball. DD has also got his system installed and bringing in better recruits. Get ready for a fun year imo.

  • Another Florida retiree who super appreciates the practice reports. Hope to catch one or two practices near Thanksgiving.

Without the updates, I would be begging for info.

Many many thanks to all who share their input.

When it gets near Thanksgiving, please post practice times if at all possible.

This from a guy who saw NYC as a train trip to NIT with the fab five for Marshall playing.

  • I had to miss yesterday myself but I have full confidence that herdorbust was dead on. We have been seeing the emergence of Jannson since June. He just gets better and better everyday. His shot is soooo sweet. Just like Randy Noll. In fact, I have called him that pretty much since he walked on campus.
One day I called him Jannson and he didn't answer me. He said, "hey, my name is Randy Noll"
These guys are great basketball players but far better young men.

I don't think any poster has intentionally lied. I just prefer the reports that have a little objectivity in them...GK4Herd had a great report on the insider board the other day. I'll leave it at that. Obviously anyone with a report should keep doing it, they are fun to read, and a big help to all Herd fans...both in and out of town.

Ok iran missed a dunk yesterday. And they all missed some 3 point shots. And riggio ripped a couple players for not being in the right position. Hope this helps and its all true.

  • Hope Iran doesn't miss too many, herdorbust.  Then he might take it out on a rim or backboard, or both.  He hasn't shattered any so far in practice, has he?

Maybe he's just saving it up for, say, WKU!!!  ;)

  • Well, herdorbust, Collis P and I and others were at practice yesterday. We saw plenty but as we were talking it seems that what we see and comment on doesn't seem to please some on here. Sorry we are too excited and love our team. If you want subjectivity then you will have to wait until you see newspaper reports after games.

I'm sorry but this sort of struck me the wrong way. This is a Marshall FAN site for Marshall FANS. Will the reports be jaded green? Yes, of course. If that bothers some, then so be it.
To be honest, I do most of my basketball posting over on the pay side as I believe it should be. It is only $9.99 per year and well worth the money.

Objectivity* is what is needed a bit. Its not fun for anyone when you are led to.believe we have the best team in Herd history and we end up 5-10 to start the season. That's all.

I do enjoy the reports but have learned to scale back my enthusiasm a couple notches. Regardless, I'll be at every game, in box 5.
