  • I find the reports to be accurate and much appreciated.  It is always good to hear about something positive when we are not able to see it for ourselves.  Thanks for all the reports!

  • So i guess last year you scaled it all the way back to a second round tourney appearance, huh?
I said i expected improvement over last year, as Dan has done every year. So i expected a tourney appearance via cusa title. I didn't expect a win, and neither did you. Don't get defensive man, we all love the Herd, a little feedback never hurt anyone.

  • Objectivity* is what is needed a bit. Its not fun for anyone when you are led to.believe we have the best team in Herd history and we end up 5-10 to start the season. That's all.

I do enjoy the reports but have learned to scale back my enthusiasm a couple notches. Regardless, I'll be at every game, in box 5.

no one cares about your fun.  or your desire for more objective reports.  if you want to take them with a grain of salt, then do it.  others enjoy hearing the reports.  also, the reports don't differ all that much from exactly what I have heard from Coach D about these players so.....if you don't mind we'll go with listening to those actually there watching and what our HC says.

I certainly don't care what you think Bison. Never have or will because you're unable to be logical, quite frankly its disgusting to see your hateful posts after a perfectly sane opinion from another herd fan.  And i am certainly not alone in saying objectivity in reports is a desirable thing. What worth does something have if it is just a fluff piece? Hell go read herdzone then. The whole value in a good report IS THAT IT'S real. What the heck is wrong with people like you?

Furthermore, I am not saying that these reports aren't true, i believe we have a sweet sixteen run coming our way, maybe more. i have been an avid supporter of Dantoni, even when most were hounding Hamrick about another "good ole boy hire". But jesus, saying no one wants objectivity, is ignorant as it gets. This isn't Hitler's reich.

How much for tickets in a box? How does one go about getting those? Feel free to PM if you prefer. I looked all over the site and found nothing. I emailed ticket people months ago. I was told they would get back to me and never heard another thing about it.

I used to have seats there a few years ago.  If it is the same, they are similarly priced as center section lower bowl.  There wasn't that many seats available for individuals to purchase back then.  It's a different vibe.  It was cool them waiting on you and bringing food/drink and just hitting your card on file for the charge.  At the end of the day, I moved back to lower bowl the year before reseating as I enjoy being near the floor.  You can let the officials have it down there, you let go from the box and feel like everyone is looking at the crazy guy.

  • Speaking of ticket sales. I was just looking at the map of what's left and ticket sales look to be going really well. I'd be interested in hearing a current number though.

You are the one that said you have learned to "scale back" your enthusiasm!!! So were you expecting a sweet 16 last year and it didn't meet your expectations, because we just got to the last 32?

Actually you are more positive than i am if you believe a sweet 16 is coming this year. I wouldn't even go that far. Do i think it is possible and even farther? Yes. But i also think it is just as likely we don't even get to the NCAA's this year. Hopefully CUSA gets 2 teams and it will be a little easier. But it takes some luck also. There is no doubt IMO we will have a better team. Not even close IMO. But things still happen.

I've learned to scale back my.enthusiasm from reading basketball reports yes, particularly newcomers talent. Doesn't mean i scale my faith in Dan. Never have. People thought i was nuts when i said i expected improvement after we made a title appearance losing taylor and loop. Dan has improved every season, this one will.be no different, i expect out best season yet and another step, so yes, i got my eyes on the sixteen and if all the depth reports are correct with even a scale down of enthusiasm, then we can do it.

Have to hound them a bit. They are about $650-$700 per seat all being told including donation of $300 per seat. We've always liked it there since we were a guest back in the day with a Dr from.cabell, finally decided to make the jump this year, looking forward to it.

Plus the fact that WKU could well be much better this year than last. ODU will also be very tough. The only team that will be scaled back this year from last will be MTSU

ODU lost some great talent. I don't believe they'll be as good as last year. WKU is hyped over recruits stars, that may never pan out to being a good ball team because of it. Honestly, you nailed it with those 2 teams being the only ones to really be able to challenge us this season, but until I see all those stars turn into chemistry and gel for WKU, they don't mean anything to me, and even then, i think they aren't going to be too good for us to beat

The thing with ODU is the 2 big 7 footers they brought in plus the return of Caver, Carver and B J Stith. They will definitely be a handful. At least, this year, we can provide some defensive muscle underneath against them, unlike the past years.
You are correct about WKU. Lots of star power but they have to meld together and there is no way of knowing if that will happen. With a couple one and done players they could well be, "ME" players.

  • we have a real chance to repeat or better.  obviously the bench is deeper but the key is the 6 man on down must provide solid minutes consistently.  i hope we get to the point where we can compete (don't get blown out, keep them all close) with proven big physical teams that also have good/great guards.  if Penava had a huge leap in game then so can the current 4s and 5s.  the 3s for that matter are important too, especially on D

I can't wait to see Williams. I think he is gonna be super good. He came on late last season and losing him in the wvu game was a huge loss. Now we have more depth behind him as well. But i think we will rebound better this season which was a key problem last year.

ODU lost a couple players but they bring back the best Stith and Caver. They brought in 2 7 footers as GT's and are going to be as good or better than last year. And yes WKU may not Gel. But when you have the talent up and down the board, I expect them to be very good. They brought in TWO GT's like MTSU always has done and they were better than what MTSU brought in, in the past. The 2 guards return in Hollingswoth and Beardin along with a couple really good JUCO's. Not to mention the 5* 6'10" Bassey at center. Nobody said we couldn't "beat" them. But if you think we are going to run through this league, then you are in for a surprise. Not to mention what is going to be a very good NT (which won the CBI tournament) and UTSA.

We'll see. Cusa will probably still be a one bid league. While better in basketball than football, the league wins won't give us any national credit. We need to shock a few people at Duquesne, A&M and Maryland. Virginia is a tall order but who knows

I agree with that. And that is why I say it won't be easy to get back. We have as good a shot as anyone, but a basket here and a basket there in the CUSA tournament and it could be over. I think this league (and especially this year) is way underrated.
