  • Let's not get crazy. Bruno and Smith are good but they aren't all world.

They have to guard on the perimeter. We will get looks. Can't wait!

  • And those 2 are good. They really worry me inside. They are big, long and ultra athletic. We need to shoot really well.

Trade 2s for 3s and we are in business. Maybe we can get them in foul trouble early too. I expect Bennett to be in foul trouble before half. Sustic will need to have a defensive awakening.

  • This could be a big game for Williams. Smith is a freshmen. Will make mistakes.

I agree. We have to prove we arent going to give up dunks and layups against a good inside team. Tonight the second half nc at was getting some uncontested layups and dunks with ease. And they arent close to marylands bigs. Have to play smart and tough and REBOUND!!!!!

  • After the game heading home I listened to the radio post game and Stan Cotton said that Maryland has 2 - 6'10 players that are projected to go in the 1st round of the NBA draft this year............  We will need to play fast and aggressive defense.......

I watched them play a few games ago. Their big men are LEGIT. I think we are better than them overall though. We just have to play our game.

  • Bennett is already showing progress.  His points have gone from 2 to 6 to 4 to 11.  His rebounds have gone from 2 to 6 to 4 to 3. He may be there by the end of the year.  But, right now it seems like he is playing timid.  Somebody needs to tell him that the opposing players want to steal his lunch.  Just think, he’s a freshman playing in his first four college games.  I’m betting he averages 20 points as a senior.

  • Most of the sloppy play tonight was after we were up 31. We got lacksadasical at that point and they had a little mini 12-2 run. Where we turned it over several times and gave up some easy boards. We can't do that against better teams but up 31 it's hard to stay fully engaged, I get that.

Best thing about tonight is it allowed us to get several guys lots of minutes and I think everyone that played except for the kid from Fairland scored tonight too.

  • .

Beyers seemed smoother handling the ball than I expected. Sustic to me appears overly excited when he gets in the game. Wants to do too much, too quickly. Having said that I still think he has a lot of potential on the offensive side. I agree with someone above about Bennett not just smashing on someone. Does he ever just power dunk on a player in practice when he gets a few steps of momentum? It reminds me of a kid I grew up with that was huge but seemed afraid to use his size and hurt someone.

You described Ante perfectly. You can talk to him and see his excitement. He is so darn happy to be here and wants to do well.

Hey Collis, you got your Cotton's mixed up..  Try Steve who replaced Stan many years ago.  lol

I don't know about getting crazy. But, if they are being projected as first round picks, then something has put them on the radar. It is basically going to come down to our outside shooting neutralizing their bigs inside.

  • Easy win but still a lot of concern in the post. Bennett got multiple opportunities towards the end of the game to do something but he was tip toeing towards his missed layups. He could be a BEAST if he would catch the ball with the mentality that he was going to just back that guy down and dunk it on his ass.

Loved the ball movement, shot the ball well, shared the ball well. Love seeing Watson driving to the lane. Defense was awesome and the hustle was there as always.

Really wish Kinsey's dunk at the end would have counted. Might have made SC Top 10. Guy just EASILY did a 360 in a game lol. Can't wait to watch him for a few more years.

I guess you can call me old fashioned, but I sure wouldn't want someone on the opposing team doing that to us with only a couple of seconds left in the game. It was pretty, though.

Agreed. I would imagine that Danny had a discussion with him afterwards

More like a young Charles Jones. Maybe we can get Bennett's mom to sing the national anthem at the WKU game!

  • I remember Charles Jones....had a good MU career.  Might have been better, but I think he injured his knee early in his time here.  Highly rated recruit I believe.

  • These first games haven’t answered anything about who w$ are. Let’s see how we compete against Maryland, Virginia, and Texas A & M. Really that is all that matters because if we get to the dance we will be -laying those types of teams and not the sisters of the poor like we have the first four games. How4ver, I will say that I thought Hofstra was a very solid team. The other three weren’t as good as the WVIAC TEAMS.
