  • Looks like this is going to just be another tune up game.

Nice to see IB working his way into the offense.

  • Up 34-19 with 4 minutes left in half.  I just hope they don't lose their focus as the game goes on.

  • Record for most 3s in a Herd game is 19. We tied the record last game. We’ll see.

  • Easy win but still a lot of concern in the post. Bennett got multiple opportunities towards the end of the game to do something but he was tip toeing towards his missed layups. He could be a BEAST if he would catch the ball with the mentality that he was going to just back that guy down and dunk it on his ass.

Loved the ball movement, shot the ball well, shared the ball well. Love seeing Watson driving to the lane. Defense was awesome and the hustle was there as always.

Really wish Kinsey's dunk at the end would have counted. Might have made SC Top 10. Guy just EASILY did a 360 in a game lol. Can't wait to watch him for a few more years.

For what it's worth we did last year too and still found a way to win most of them. It seemed every mediocre center had their career night on us last season. Not saying it's OK, it is a problem if we want to be taken seriously, but I'm not overly concerned just yet.

  • I think Bennett is getting more and more comfortable. He has great hands for a bigman. Sometimes his biggest problem is he just gets in to big of a hurry. When plays straight up and  fundamental he can't be stopped inside. I also thought Beyers really showed some good skill tonight. He was penetrating and making some really nice passes. I though Ante struggled some on defense tonight over playing. CUSA better hope Bennett and Beyers doesn't hit their stride before conference play is all I can say. But I do agree with the poster that said we are going to get killed inside against a legit good interior team if we don't rotate better and play smarter inside. But I do think sometime before the end of the year Bennett and Beyers are going to be playing at a much higher level and we are going to be hard to handle. Because we know what Jon, CJ, Jannson, Watson, West can all do.

    .

Beyers seemed smoother handling the ball than I expected. Sustic to me appears overly excited when he gets in the game. Wants to do too much, too quickly. Having said that I still think he has a lot of potential on the offensive side. I agree with someone above about Bennett not just smashing on someone. Does he ever just power dunk on a player in practice when he gets a few steps of momentum? It reminds me of a kid I grew up with that was huge but seemed afraid to use his size and hurt someone.

Bennett's biggest problem right now is still his weight. He can't get off the ground well enough to go over someone and dunk. Mark this down and remember this post. "IF" Bennett gets down in the 290's (and I think he eventually will at some point) and with more playing time, he will end up as the most dominating unstoppable bigman we have EVER had here. All the skill and soft hands are there. All that is holding him back is his weight and playing time gaining more confidence. And he is one of the nicest young men you would ever want to meet. We are so lucky to have him. And he is going to be playing some "National attention" ball before he leaves here. What a great thing to know he has 4 years. Williams, Beyers and George have 3 years left. 2 really good players sitting out and Kinsey 4 years to play. The future looks very bright.

  • I love Bennett. I think he is good and I think he will be great. I just wish he would use his size and be mean/aggressive. No reason for someone his size to be taking all these reverse layups and up and under layups etc. Go up strong for the dunk and make them foul you. He can be unstoppable once he gets that mentality. He can be one of the best in the entire country. As herdorbust pointed out, he has soft hands, great kid, moves extremely well for his size etc. I'm tickled to death to have him and I can't wait to watch him get better and better.

After the game heading home I listened to the radio post game and Stan Cotton said that Maryland has 2 - 6'10 players that are projected to go in the 1st round of the NBA draft this year............  We will need to play fast and aggressive defense.......

And those 2 are good. They really worry me inside. They are big, long and ultra athletic. We need to shoot really well.
