  • . . . . with the word out that Arkansas has officially suspended two players, defensive backs, from this week's game with Missouri.

The Reason?  Apparently, during last week's game they were "guilty" of fraternizing (i.e., "flirting")  with members of Mississippi State's Dance Team!!!!

Any of you all still think that College football is Not "all business"?  No room for fun, especially for the 18-23 year old players, apparently!!

  • They’ve won two games. North Texas and Colorado State are two of those losses. You shouldn’t be having fun when getting beat soundly every week

  • Depends on what the teams rules were . Maybe they need to pay more attention to the games instead of the girls behinds , they might have won more than 2 games .

Guarantee you that if it was two men they were flirting with, nothing would be said.

  • College football is turning too conservative. Loosen up and have fun. It's just a game in the flow of life.

  • This seems to be a bit of BS on its surface.  But it’s a slow day so I’ll play devil’s advocate.

Just out of curiosity anyone know if the girls on the dance team were suspended or disciplined in any way?

The articles I read said the players were taking pictures, fraternizing/flirting and exchanging information with the dance team girls.

By using the words fraternizing (CBS) and flirting (Yahoo Sports) I interpret that as a two way street meaning that both sides were fraternizing or flirting with each other.  If it was one sided then I think the term(s) harass or harassment would have been used.

If it is serious enough to result in a 2 game suspension for one side then it seems that it would rise to some level of inappropriate behavior for the other side.  If not then the argument could be made that Mississippi State University encourages flirting and fraternizing by its official dance team girls.  What kind of message does that send to the other dance team members, parents of the dance team members, and others?

It seems to me to be a two way street if it is serious enough to result in discipline for one side.  Should football players or athletes be held to a higher standard than others?

One way or the other I bet Mississippi State University is going to sell a lot of tickets in the sections near the dance team girls in the future.  I guess that’s one way to sell tickets and bring excitement back into college football.

If it helps, I can think of several ways they could be disciplined.

  • Went to Memphis last time the Herd played there.  Wasn’t 500 fans in the entire place.  If players got suspended for talking to the cheerleaders, Marshall wouldn’t have had a team the following week.  I think it was a loss too.
