UVA favored by 3 1/2.  Opened at 4.

Marshall favored by 2 1/2 at FIU.  Opened at FIU favored by 1 1/2.  Kinda makes a person wonder what the folks putting big money on this game know that others may not, if anything...

Need two wins for the good guys here.

On the road against a team with a winning record does not feel like a game we should be favored in.

Not so fast Champ. Despite some denials on this Board, Marshall football has considerable talent. When not exposed by a real good QB especially.

We've got a good bit of momentum with Green back at the helm and Knox's emergence with fresh legs. People in low places seem to concur. Let me speculate and say Doc's also fighting to get our fan base back. TPB know the fan base is tired of this lather up with expectations, rinse, and repeat.

Per my statements in another thread I am vehemently opposed to playing the VT game because of the stated reason for the game, respect, el al. I know if play we VT and lay an egg ( or get robbed again ) then I'm not going to actively follow MU FB until Doc is gone, and probably Hamrick as well. Doubt that puts any pressure on anyone, lol. Win or lose @FIU. Let the door hit me ( bad fan ) in the @ss.

Since 2010, Marshall is 27th among all FBS teams in winning percentage against the spread at 59-51-3.   They are 10th among the G5 schools.

As home favorite - 22-19-1
As home underdog - 7-5-1

As road underdog - 15-11
In conference games - 33-38-2
Non conference games - 26-13-1 (5th best in FBS)

Tonight, CBSsports.com indicates Herd is a 3 pt. favorite; WVU a 3 pt. dog to OU, and
VA Tech a 4 pt. dog to UVA.

Also, as of tonight, Herd FINALLY has a victory over a FBS foe without a losing record:  Miami, (O) beat Ball State to gain their 3rd straight victory, and end the season 6-6.  Herd has defeated a foe, FCS EKU, with a winning mark (7-4).  Other 5 MU vanquished opponents are all south of .500, some way south, WKU and UTSA, except FAU who can join Miami at 6-6 by defeating Charlotte this week!

Thus, no way can Doc's Herd claim a regular season victory over a FBS opponent with a WINNING record, even if the Herd plays, and defeats VA Tech on 12/1, UNLESS it defeats FIU on Saturday!!!
