He's had two awful plays since I typed my comment.  He was last up the court and wasn't even a factor in rebounding on a drive to the hoop.

Penava wouldn't have made much difference in a game like this. He got absolutely abused by good heavy bigs last year and would have tonight. Not saying he isn't missed, just that he was just as bad on defense vs a team like this.

No it wouldn't have made a difference tonight. But we miss him way more than you think. Just wait and see what our record is without him compared with him and we are even a year older this year.

I agree. We may not beat them 10 times we would play. But this game is once in a blue moon type game. We can't throw it in the ocean and they are playing the game of their lives. But we are not near as good as we thought. Just being truthful.

I agree, which I why I said "not saying he isn't missed". We are without a doubt a better team with him. We are still a good team. This is probably the worst game I've seen DD coach since back in his first season. To me that says this game is most likely a fluke. We'd probably lose to Maryland 7 out of 10 but I doubt we'd lose like this again.

Last time D'Antoni's Herd was routed by Maryland, the Terps were No. 4 in the country.  This team is not in the top 25.
 
As announcer on B10 network noted, nearly 3 years since Terps scored 100 points or better.  Also, Terps came into this game shooting 27% from 3 land; tonight 9 out of 16, well over 50%.

For all those who figured that the physical aspect and the officials were the reasons we lost, need to come to grips with the reality of big time college ball.  It is PHYSICAL, and D'Antoni is come to have to come to grips with that reality, especially when we play a B10, SEC, ACC team or someone like Huggy's Neers!  Need to realize also that officials will allow for more physical play, bumping, contact, etc. in those games.  If Danny can't get Elmore, West, and Co. to realize that, then tonight is what we get.  And, if he can't get enough of the physical type players to be able to adjust to that style of ball, all learn to MOVE THEIR FEET on Defense, then this is what more than likely the result will be, game after game!!

And, if you think tonight's game was "physical", wait until we go to UVA.  I watched the CAVS win over a good Wisconsin team today, and they get in the O's shorts just after the midcourt line and double team the ball all over the offensive end of the court.

Well, its unfortunate that "the start" of the season is WHEN we play the "major" foes, the types of teams we need to beat ever so often to develop a little national "cred".  The types of teams D'Antoni is now 0 for 4 years/seasons+ and counting!!

We have no answer inside Sorry!!!! That is the missing link. Beyers, Bennett or Sustic will not give you anything close to what Peneva gave us. At least not this year. That is just the truth.
