  • Not sure the dude can even touch the rim with his 6 inch vertical.  Let’s lose that play.

  • This guy reminds me of Thomson in football.

Pretty hyped up and then when you get to watch him play you end up wondering why.

It all comes down to weight. He is carrying WAY to much weight and it is affecting his entire game. He can't get off the floor, he can't move quick enough and he gets winded quick. But he has very soft hands and knows what to do but just can't do it effectively with the weight he is carrying. I really hope the kid can get down in the 280-290 range so he can be successful because he is such a great kid and I mean great kid. The most humble, soft spoken, respectful kid you could be around.

  • Agree, herdorbust, can't get too far down on a guy who has 3 and a half years of eligibility and playing time remaining.  Just a shame he couldn't have shed about another 30# of weight about a year ago instead of picking up 20-30# as he allegedly did.  Agree if he could down to about 280# and works hard on his footwork, moves and in the lane shots he could be a weapon offensively in future seasons.  Certainly NO reason to throw in the towel on him after game 5 in his first season!!

  • This is the 2nd game in a row we came out trying to run the offense through him.  The results were the same fumbled passes and turnovers.  I said the same thing in another thread about the Lob passes.  So far this year we have tried 10-15 to him with zero dunks and maybe 4 pts from him catching them going back up for a layup.  Stop it till he loses 50 lbs and can get off the floor.

  • Irans a project , period . I say if and when he loses more weight , hes gonna contribute alot but until then , its a minute or two here and there . Hes a great kid for sure but his weight is holding him back and he knows it . Its going to take time to lose it , I know , its taken me ten years to lose thirty pounds and I still havent lost a pound !

Exactly. Could we have Red Shirted IB this year? He just isn't ready to play D-I ball. He needs to develop his game and like everyone has said lose 30-50 lbs. Again if he was as good as everyone thought he wouldn't be at Marshall...his name would be Zion and he'd be at Duke.

All phases of his game are garbage right now. I hate to be that frank but it's the truth. There is nothing he brings to the table other than a hole in the line-up.

  • If we keep throwing alley oops to Bennett and keep trying to force the offense through him then we deserve to lose.

I thought he was a non qualifier last year?  You don’t redshirt NQ’s do you?  I’m not sure.

  • I don't think you guys remember what Penava's first year looked like?  If you guys just need to focus on something to complain about, I suggest you take up the topic of why Danny is incapable of making adjustments.  Bennett is a redshirt freshman, who deserves the same patience that Penava got as a freshman.

Absolutely-have to give these young folks some time to work in the system....practice isn't the same as during the game.  I see positives - he could develop into a damned fine player.  Let's not be too quick to put these young players down.

  • IB's becoming a good or possible great player depends on how much weight he's willing to lose. If he sheds 45# he will be a player, but if he stays over 300 he will have growing pains all of his career. It's up to him to get into bball shape; a good coach can  help improve your game if you are willing to improve your physical condition.

Athletes are given five years to play four. Generally doesn't matter why the one year is spent on the bench. REd shirting, NQ, whatever else is used to label the year on the bench doesn't matter. The labels are just jargon invented by the media to illustrate why an athlete is sitting out.
