  • We’re an above average d1 team.  That’s it.  Nowhere  near a top 25 team as some think. Bennett at this point in his development is a liability especially against a talented big man.   Dantoni’s glaring weakness Since becoming coach has been this position.  It’s magnified on off shooting nights like tonight.

  • Man one game and everyone is jumping ship.  I remember getting waxed by WKU and coming back and winning the league.  Disappointing yes but I still think by the end we will be right there.  We knew loosing Peavea would hurt and we saw a good example of that tonight.  March is a looong way off.

  • I agree.  We’ll improve and be there but the weak link will continue to be our inside play

  • I don't know what the rest of you saw, but from my vantage point is was a group of skinny kids playing grown men.  The recruit 304 sounds nice, but in reality it's a road to mediocrity.  #getsomemen

  • I said before the season started that last year was very special and not to expect that this year...we will be a top 4 team in conference but I do not expect us to win the conference..

Got to disagree. Bennett, Byers, Williams, George and Kinsey aren't from the 304. I went to Good Counsel. The 304 boys were terrible but not because they were skinny.

  • Thats the difference in the BIG10 and CUSA , size ! The BIG10 has always been a tough , physical leauge , CUSA , more of a finess league . The men these guys get are already big ( and good ) while ours are still growing .

  • It's athleticism, quickness, leaping ability, hound-dogging the ball around the paint at all times that we lack.  i don't care what style you play, there is no excuse when nobody is near the basket or near the ball on O or D for rebounds, loose balls, defensive intimidation.  we have to compete for at least one impact player every year, or we're not going to get to the next level.  the coaching staff were not able to provide/convey adjustment in the second half.  there is no excuse getting blown out by any team at this point in time.

I live in DC and played basketball some of the legendary playgrounds over the years before I got old with Sligo being my favorite.  I also realize that not all of the players are from WV, but the 304 meme has be cited numerous times on the board.  But if you compare the rosters of both teams and background of players, it's plain to see that the Herd was at a real disadvantage.  That being said, I hope that the team regroups and have a great year.  I also went to grad school at Maryland and am a huge Terps fan as well.  I hope they meet again with a better out come for MU.

  • The "3" is a great way to put someone away when you're hitting a fairly good percentage of them. We have "never" been consistent (especially when we are in need of them) week end and week out. Jon Elmore is only very good when he is hitting them without close coverage. He has a LOT of bad games especially when playing against much better competition. My prediction is that he will not get highly drafted.....and IF he does get drafted....he will not stay in the NBA very long and most likely will never "start" week end and week out. I am very thankful for ALL of his dedication to MU and this team....I am only trying to point a few things out.

  • You're way off on Mr Elmore. He is not always the best outside shooter but he is everything else it takes to be considered an amazing player. I mean look at his numbers for Gods sake. He rebounds, steals, shoots free throws etc ete etc. AND he is the unquestionable leader on the team. And he has more range on his shot than anyone else and is a dangerous weapon from long distance. Love watching him play.

  • Elmore is a good college player.  He's not athletic enough for the NBA but he will play professionally.  He was not into the game last night even in warmups.  Low energy last night.

You would be low energy also if you had been as sick as him 24 hours prior.

Agree. But, Jon has also not been Jon very much this season. His outside shot is just not consistent right now.

  • Elmore and Burks can get themselves real NBA chatter if they can go off on UVA and Texas A&M.
