Some comments on the above. First, Coach D talked in depth about the Maryland game on his radio show tonight. Admitted that we miss Penava's interior game. Said he could, last year, put Adjin and 4 guards on the floor and feel pretty good about it in most games. Can't, right now, do the same. Says we have no real experienced player at Penava's slot. Sustic and Byers new to the program. Bennett gives minutes but weight/conditioning limits his minutes. Danny said Bennett was working hard in practice today and understands he needs to give more and Coach said as the Coach he has to have patience with Iran (and with the other newer bigs also). Danny did laud Jansson's play, but again noted he is a little shorter, and arms not nearly as long, compared to Penava. Danny said his, Williams, offensive play was outstanding against the Terps, noting he was 9 for 10 from the floor, or maybe 9 for 11.
Then, too, Coach said he is probably going to have to decide whether to play Darrius on the inside, or out on the perimeter. Says he needs to do so to allow George to concentrate on one position, instead of trying to play at multiple slots. Finally, Coach commented that, while not stating affirmatively that Jon was "sick", he, Elmore said that his legs were "heavy" at the Maryland game.
The comment by JReese is the first I've heard about Jansson's illness. Hopefully, both he and Jon are feeling much better, health wise, and will be close to full speed Wednesday night.
JReese, I hope that, playing wise, Jansson is as "sick" in our 2 games this week as he was the other night in Maryland, if you know what I mean!! ;)
One night this season, and hopefully against one of the better teams on our schedule, I predict that Jon, C.J. AND Jansson (and maybe another player or two) are ALL going to go off offensively like Williams did versus the Terps!! Wouldn't want to be the Herd opponent that night!!
