  • Don't worry about it. Sample size too small.  We'll be fine. We were cold and they were hot.

though I am fine with us not saying Hillbllly Ball.

  • one loss early in the yr is not defining, but blowouts should not happen, period.   that said, it may be necessary to be more aggressive, reassess/rescind some scholarships at years end

  • I am even more worried about next year....this type of team requires experience as we have seen the team get better each year...next year will be a start over season so that may be difficult.

It def works in "big boy" basketball. The problem is you must have a 5 that can play post defense and stretch the floor offensively. We have never had that piece while this system has been in play. May never will because those kind of 5s aren't likely to come here.

Id be more worried if we will avg two tds next year a game.  Basketball program needs to recruit better.  Marshall is a school that continues to degrade its product by not thinking it can get high level players. The Little ol Marshall attitude.  Never changes. Want to be the best try getting the best.

  • Man some of y'all are really spiraling today or just love to say you knew it. We lost one game. Hillbilly Ball took us farther than ever last season. Hillbilly Ball put a team on the biggest stage of the biggest of big boy ball, NBA, last year. Last year finally put us on the radar to get better recruits and it will pay off. Dan has done a lot with what he's had to this point. Can't believe after the season we just had, we got people out here ready for a new coach or philosophy.

Isn’t that how Marshall fans react?  Get too up on wins and to down on losses. Yesterday sucked but it wasn’t like that happened against a small team.  Maryland couldn’t have played any better and well we couldn’t have played worse.

We still need to recruit some beef and not just develope it. I don’t care what people say about our style doesn’t go with it.  Well I think last night’s display of dunks and running and gunning by Maryland showed exactly how the bigs can work. Until we get Bennett where he can be something inside there will be games like this.  We have height they are just the size of toothpicks or too big and slow.

But I am not giving up on this team.  We better get prepared though as we have some tough games coming up.  We have lost exactly one game and have a lot of fun left.

They were ranked 19 when we played. A dropped considerably after that.

    FYI it's "Their", not there

  • Well, we don't really have to worry about "every game counts" to get in the tournament....We either win the CUSA and go dancing or we don't participate...beating or losing to Maryland wouldn't matter to if we are the CUSA runner up...

Are you kidding? Worked very well to win us a cusa title, and NCAaa tourney game. We shot terribly, and it was our whole team except Williams.

Take away Williams, and our team shot 17-63 for 27% and 3-25 from 3, 12%!

You are never going to win or be in a game like that. It was a bad game, that's all. Similar thing happened against WKU last season. We bounced back. Doc has earned the criticism he gets. He has 1 title to show for 9 seasons in a terribly bad football conference. Dan has 1 title in 4 years, along with our first ever NCAA tourney win, and also another title game appearance. Poised to compete for another this season. The people just waiting to pounce on the only good thing going for our athletics programs is disgusting. You aren't herd fans, that's for sure.

Yep. In 4 years Dan as been to 2 title games and won 1. Along with an NCAA tourney game. Doc has been to 2 title games and won 1 in 9 years. Dan gets a pass on a game or 2 like this a season as long as he keeps us in the thick if things for a conference title like he has so far.

It is worth mentioning that cusa basketball is tougher than football as well.

  • There is no reseasoning or legit excuse for a 50 point blowout....how was this team not ready or hyped for this opportunity.

Fundamentally sound ball players with pro basketball athleticism.  Bennett could get to 24 inches on a vert at his size he would be dangerous.  27 inch verts for football players over 300lbs is very, very good.  You can always tell potential pros from nons.

  • does anyone remember that WKU beat us by 50 at home last January? Then they beat us again in Bowling Green in February, Who won the game in March?

Guys, there are lots of things that happen in college hoops. WKU beat wvu and played UCF tough. I see that they lost to Indiana State today and is 3-2
