Honest question, no pain or jabs intended, Champ; do you have any ties to the activities or development groups in Cabell County or Huntington? I'm asking because the River is a major part of the development that has taken place over the last decade, and you imply that it has not been considered. Seriously, just asking, not slamming.
No, I don't.
At the moment it's almost 2019 and we still have a flood wall blocking the river, first major issue. There is also little at Riverfront Park other than a painfully small skate park, park, and a million dollar boat enclosure(?).
I know there are plans...a 100 million worth of plans... to develop the riverfront...but as of now that hasn't happened yet. That should have happened 50-75 years ago or more. There should be hotels, a boardwalk, shops, etc on the river right now. It should be our crown jewel. Instead it is something we hide with the flood wall...monumental fail.
For the sake of not insulting REAL "development", there is NO development on the river at the moment in Huntington. That's what I'm talking about.
Think the plans are fantastic, but to my eyes ground has not even been broken yet on those plans. With real leaders we could have and should have been a Cincinnati.
Huntington's the largest inland port in the US. Has been a Jeopardy question.
