  • Let’s say we win out. A ten winn season with a Bowl victory.

I can see the press release from Hamwreck now:

    Quote
We’re pround to announce that with the conclusion of yet another successful season we’ve agreed with our ten-game winning coach to a five-year contract extension that raises his annual salary to $850,000 per year. This will insure he can continue to recruit outstanding transfers from other schools, insuring that malcontent trouble makers will be able to develop their talents on their own and maybe make an NFL rooster since these athletes have no prayer of succeeding in the competitive free enterprise world that most Marshall graduates will enter.

This new contract should increase our chances of increasing the number of wins in no one cares toilet bowls that WVU grad Holiday has passed off as victories.

We of course hope that happy Herd fans will contribute to the Big Green so that we can continue this chain of double-digit victories and bowl wins. With fan support we may even make it into a conference championship game someday.

May you a win is a win green glass Kool aide inhalers enjoy your peaceful solitude of the Joan for seasons to come.

  • If we win out then I will consider it a successful season to be honest. FR QB who got hurt which ended up costing us the division (cause goherd's boy AT couldn't get it done.)

Beating Va Tech and winning the bowl game would be a good season imo.

  • So what Cotton is saying is that in the same number of seasons Pruett won 25 more games than Doc. Solid tweet by him.

100% agree. Especially if we end up getting to play and beat another P5 in a bowl game like the Wake Forest projection I saw.

What are you whining about? Over half of CUSA were in 1AA / FCS within the last 6 years. Some may argue
they should still be there (ODU, Charlotte).

  • Objectively:

Eight wins in 11 games is better than eight losses in 11 games.  However:

We've beaten two bowl eligible teams in Miami and FIU, and two with winning records, FIU and and FCS Eastern Kentucky.

In the games we have won we struggled against Miami, EKU, WKU, and FIU.  The UTSA game was pretty poor from an offensive point of view, too.  FIU was a decent team and was the best win of the year.  That it was our last game means that hopefully we may be finally putting some things together.  ODU and Charlotte were lopsided wins but against mediocre at best opponents.

USM is a hard place to play and we turn-overed  it away.  MTSU we lost at home with Thomson at QB.  But that was the worst loss of the year and really put a stink on the season.

Beat VT and you still haven't beaten another team with a winning record, although it is a P5.

Finishing second in CUSA East with 18 starters back and a senior-laden team and a series of struggling wins over lackluster programs is naturally going to have some folks unhappy.  Are they too unhappy?  That is up to individual perception, but I can understand it.

It is what it is.  8 wins right now is quantity, not quality.  Beat VT and a winning team in a bowl and they you'll have some quality.

Bottom line: This team and this coach have a chance to redeem themselves from the naysayers in the next month.  Win the next two and they will have done that.  Win ten, with our next two opponents, and I don't think anyone can say its a bad season even though it didn't end in a conference championship.
"On rainy days, the early justices would enliven case conferences with wine. On other days, even if the sun was shining, Chief Justice John Marshall would order wine anyway, saying, 'Our jurisdiction is so vast that it must be raining somewhere.' "

You realize that Green is a garbage QB right? That our Defense has been playing its ass off to win these games. At least thomson helped our running game. If it wasn't for circus catches, Green would have less than half.his yards

You truly are ignorant. AT isn't even in the same ball park as Green.

You keep talking about circus catches without even understanding that Green is putting the ball where he is taught to put it. Under throw the ball and give your WR a shot is what they are taught. He has been doing that and Brady has made some great catches. Weird, that never happened with AT...hmmmmm.

QBs are taught to throw it over their heads by 20 yards? Or fades into the stands? Are they taught to throw it into double coverage? Because what you are describing is a QB that throws back shoulder, and short on purpose. That's not Green.

Morrell is very bad, but he might be an upgrade honestly, over the other two.

  • I've never seen a QB at Marshall with worse machanics then Green. I've also never seen a QB at Marshall who is more consistently inaccurate. He may throw one good ball a game on the money. Where an average QB may throw 15 or more. Our yards after catch are attrocious...because nearly every ball caught ia a bad pass. Green throws nothing in stride.

  • Green

    Record as starter - 6-1
Passing efficiency - 128.41 (140 over the last three games)
    Yards per completion - 13.85
    Yards per game - 263
    Completion % - 55%
    TDs/INT - 12-7

    Thomson

    Record as starter - 2-2
    Passing efficiency - 106.00 (last game 54.17)
    Yards per completion - 9.457
    Yards per game - 127
    Completion % - 53%
    TDs/INT - 5/3

If Green is garbage, what exactly is Thomson?  And as far as helping the running game, he had King as RB1 in his 4 starts, Green had him as RB1 in none of his.

It's funny, you goons that want to discount stats that show how good Litton was, try ro throw out stats to prove Green (who if you have two eyes and a brain you can see is a bad QB) is cato jr. Just like a liberal, stats don't matter when a rep has the presidency, but look at that unemployment rate for the (D)!

Or how about you wanted to throw out stat after stat to prove your best buddy Litton was awesome but want to ignore stats when someone tries to show you Green is better than AT.

Personally, I don't think stats tell the whole story but I also don't think they can ever be totally discredited. However none of the 3 And mentioned in this thread are great. But, Litton was easily the best. His issue was more in his head and chest than anything else.

Litton passed the eye test with his stats, and if we had Litton this season, its very possible we are undefeated and ranked, given our receivers being open vs NC State all game but unable to connect. He had issues, but he is easily one of the best QBs we've had, in the top 5-6.

Thomson, is not very good. That was proven, clearly, whether it is due to injury or not is unknown. Green is not very good either. Neither QB will provide us a shot at being cusa champs in the future here, we are going to be decimated by graduation this season.

Both QBs lost the USM game. Actually the Herd was tied 10-10 with USM when Doc pulled Thomson and inserted Green who had a turnover on his first play that became a TD for USM to lead 17-10. So the way I see it IG's record is 6-2 with Thomson at 2-1 with a 1tie. Anyway hopefully the staff can bring in a quality juco QB to provide leadership and better QB play in case IG still has trouble making correct read and throws.

  • How many 4th q come from behind wins did Litton have?
How many wins did Litton have trailing at halftime?
How many win did Litton have trailing at all in the 2nd half?
How many wins did Litton have when Marshall did not score first?

Like to find out the same for Cato too.

Green could end up a very good 4th q qb.  That wins a lot of games.
