Wow!  Hlllbilly, you need to find a skilled, experienced screenwriter and turn this tear jerky saga into a Hit Movie script!!  Could make $$$$$$ millions!  Then, we could buy out coaches, hire new coaches, remodel and upgrade stadium/facilities (including the restrooms!!), and soon be a perennial TOP 25 Program!!!!  Problem Solved!  ;D

  • Why do so many of you discount the Cato years?  That was exciting football..did you go to the Military Bowl and watch us beat Maryland?  Did you not enjoy a packed house in an exciting game beating Purdue?  How about the win early on in the Beef OBradys bowl...I know I had fun...we have had 1 really bad year in 10...not so bad..we have 2 new coordinators and a freshman QB and whave won 8 games..we are not the 85 Bears but who is...we have never beaten a top 10 team even with Penny or Moss...

Why the hatred of our team?

I did make the trip to Annapolis to the Military Bowl.

Purdue won 2 games the year before, and went on to win 1 after we beat them. Not exactly knocking off Alabama.

FIU in the Beef O’Brady’s bowl in front of 200 fans. Now that’s big time.

You are correct and incorrect at the same time. You are correct... we never beat a top ten team with Pennington or Moss.  You are incorrect... Instead, we beat the #6 team in the country with Graham Gochnear and Jonathan Goddard.

I never said I hated Marshall. I just try to steer clear of delusion and face reality, unlike many on this board.

  • Hillbilly...you did not answer my question...if you went to the Beef OBrady Bowl did you have fun?  Did you enjoy beating Maryland in the Military bowl?  I had fun at both..I enjoy them for what they are..a 3 day mini vacation with some Herd football...if you are not a top 6 team then nothing matters in the national scene...it is not like it used to be..college football is about 6 to 8 teams and the rest is just for fans enjoyment...thanks ESPN for realignment...

  • People acting like endowment means %^&* to recruits. F
Marshall has a brand and football history to sell recruits. We have played with and competed with those unbeatable endowed aac schools before, and mostly with Snyder ball. We can play in the AAC and should be. If we get left behind again, its all over. There is one more shift i think, and then those 6 conferences will split with the g5. We are either going to be relegated to a new FCS officially, or we get into the AAC and have a chance to be on the boat. We would be in the lowest deck, sleeping in bunks with the rats, but we'd be on the boat. We NEED the AAC.

Agree that endowments do not mean %^&* to recruits, but they do mean something to the universities in certain conferences.

Lou Holtz and ND wanted no part of playing Penny and Moss and nobody wanted anything to do with Penny after Moss!  We couldn't get teams to play us homes or away.  That's why they are without Top 10 wins.  Top 10 teams knew that ass might get beat!!

It's not hatred but more so knowing the outcome of a game or season before it's played.  I do not believe we have averaged over 30ppg on offense for a season since either Littons freshman year or Cato's senior year.  And our D gives up 18-25ppg over those years maybe more.  That's a bunch a close games against some of the worst teams in the NCAA FBS.  Would The Herd win the FCS Championship this year?

Why the hatred of our team?

We just lost a cusa title game, embarrassingly, to Rice, but we returned that team with even more alledged talent the following year, and got Maryland in a bowl. A name people cared about.

Yes, i was there. I loved seeing us beat Maryland, and I loved seeing the attention and excitement of what next year would bring. It could have been so much more special, yet Holiday had to play Tindal and get torched at home by WKU to ruin an undefeated top 20 season. We barely won the title game vs La Tech, and they had half their defense not playing that game. That was honestly when i started thinking Doc couldn't win consistently. If he can't win with Cato talent, then he isn't going to win. It takes undefeated now to get an access bowl that anyone cares about. That should be our goal. If you can't get on that level of expectation then we will fail as a program. A cusa title should be an after thought at this point, given our conference. Yet, it took a generational talent in Cato to barely get a title at home. 1 in 9 guys, in a conference way worse than anyone that pumps sunshine wants to admit. 1 in 9 with Marshalls brand, vs these upstarts and sunbelt transplants. Its such a shame.

  • I think getting knocked out of division contention so early really took the wind out of our sails, especially with this being the year, with all the hype, a hotshot QB, all of the returning starters, and our division being so bad. The Doc Holiday-era is starting to feel like Groundhog's Day. It's always next year but next year never comes.

Taking a quick look at rankings, it looks like our best wins were against #88 Miami and #99 FAU and and our worst losses were against #82 MTSU and #107 Southern Miss. Maybe it's not fair but it just feels like we should be more competitive than we are just by nature of being an established program and 6 or 7 games should be all but guaranteed victories (FCS and dregs of FBS teams).

  • Our schedule is what it is.  We play the teams on it.  Other teams do not want to play us.  We can not make them play us.  We have had one bad year in a fairly good string.  You make your vision what you want but you have to make your goals reachable.  We are not going to be in the ACC or even the AAC.  They have made us aware they don't want us.
