  • We have a %^&* athletics program now, im so sick of watching this %^&* every single year. Football team will never be good again with doc and basketball team has never been good besides one year last year. We are a program that is falling off the cliff. Its the same stuff every single year

  • Ah. Basketball is a long season and we always get better throughout the year. I'd rather be hot at end of the year than the beginning.

Not what I am saying, gets old to go to every game and spend all this money on a team that can never win anything. We have had 1 good year in basketball and 1 good year in football in the last 15 or so years. That is sad as hell

Sorry, but that is such a cop out. So you're happy with Marshall just getting participation trophies from here on out.

Today is simply an embarrassing day to be a Herd fan. Not the first, won't be the last, but they have become more frequent it seems.

EVERY CUSA team loses that game 8/10 times.  Fact.

So, you are happy being just like all the other CUSA teams?  A group that includes mostly start ups and recent FCS move ups. Cool.

  • While I have concerns about the basketball program, they get a pass until the end of the year. It is the first freaking day of December so there is a long ways to go.

Now football is different, the program is slowly dying. Doc does not have the intangibles to be the coach Marshall needs at this time. Unfortunately, he is going no where and our fan base will continue to dwindle.

  • We are almost totally irrelevant in football. It’s been a slow fall for close to 20 years now. I’ve faced it.

Basketball is a bit different I think.

  • We are G5 which has been relegated by the power programs with no chance of being relevant.(winning a national championship). Marshall does very well against the same level programs......

No but it says a lot about his ability to win said league once in 9 years.

Almost no teams, in any conferences, have more than 1 football title.

Those teams aren't in the cusa, and supposed to be the best program in the cusa

What i am seeing in basketball is not good. If one kid made that much difference(peneva) then we are in major trouble. We look like we did at the beginning of dannys first and second years.

Come from you, that says something. Something is truly wrong; talent is, frankly, very lacking, very, very lacking in the middle.

Where were you in the 90s Greg???
Most wins by any university in Division 1
    3 Heisman Finalists
    Bilietnikoff Winner
Multiple NFL draft picks - plenty of sons of Marshall to root for on Sundays
    Beat Clemson in Death Valley
    Beat South Carolina at USC
Beat #2 Kansas State at KSU
    Tight game at Georgia
Ohio State needed a last second 55 yard field goal to beat us at the shoe
2 National Championships (albeit I-AA but undefeated seasons)
    4 STRAIGHT conference championships
Finished #10 after another undefeated season
19 All Americans - we have not had one in 12 years

    That is called being relevant
I understand where we are at this time and great coaches are hard to find and keep. Doc is doing a fine job winning around 8 games per year but this fan base experienced more than fine and it’s shocking to look back those 20 years and realize how much of a joke this season would have been to those teams.

Very well said! In the 90’s we were RESPECTED. now, we get the announcers saying ‘he’s just a freshman, they have lots to be excited about’ just to keep the MU spirits in the conversation. Wow. Our football program is far worse than our basketball program. I didn’t like what I’ve seen out of basketball last few weeks but today’s football game was proof that John is NEVER going to be exciting to watch. Ever.

It’s really not surprising that losing one of the best shot blockers in the country hurt this team. We have no identity inside with no rim protector. If Jannson goes for the block, no one else can get the rebound. If he waits back, the shot is mostly uncontested. The opposing teams best play is to get a shot up and play volleyball until it goes in the hoop. We were out rebounded by 20 and gave up 15 offensive rebounds. It will take some time to find out who will step up to fill that void. Until then, we have to shoot our way to a win (not shooting well right now). Hopefully Danny sees something he can work with...
