  • I wish the MU would put more effort acknowledging CJ’s accomplishments as a player. His is the fifth all time leading scorer in MU history. I love his tough defense and he never showboats. My wife and I talked to CJ at the mall Saturday night he is such a humble, polite young man.

  • That's a good point.  Hard to be number 2 on a decent team.

  • Great point. CJ is a great young man. He doesn’t seem to get the credit that he deserves.

  • C.J. came to play tonight.  We lose without his stellar game.  No way would we be as successful without him.

  • Its not often that you have a century of history and have 2 of your top 5 all time scorers in history playing at the same time. Any other time and CJ would be superman in Huntington. It just so happens he is playing with Jon and #1 all time. But it doesn't effect the way I see CJ. He has been a heck of a player and ill miss seeing him play.

Those 2 guys really seem to feed off of each other. I don’t think that one of them has as much success as they’ve had without the other. What a lot of us forget to. Both Jon and CJ lost a semester their careers or their numbers would be even high than they are now.

And we have several people on this board insisting we are going to be better next year after having lost two of our top five scorers in history.

  • My wife and I both thought CJ should have been given the MVP award last night, especially since he was the games leading scorer.

I think we'll get different next year. It has been a joy to watch CJ and Elmore. It would be nice to win this tournament and send them out right.  Andy yeah, I'd buy a t-shirt.

I agree. They say Dan said that. I trust Dan, but that's an awful tall task for any school to try to be better, losing that kind of firepower, and senior leadership. I don't think we'll even have a senior next season? That's a tough one. We would need George and Williams to become so much better and consistent, Taylor would have to be freshman of the year, West would need to improve dramatically offensively, and Kinsey would need to maintain or improve his performance, for us to even have a chance st being better, then the bench would have to step up as well. I don't see it, but i hope we do.

Yes, Danny has said it. We will play differently.  Less dribbling and more passing. If you have watched practice much at all, you would see that talent we have on hand to come in along with what we have coming in as freshmen.  If you haven't seen Cam, Jeremy and Andrew, you will be pleasantly surprised.

  • Burks good player.... has upside.  Very nice career!!  Seemed off this year.  Plays too fast and dribbles too much.  Suspect passer and decision maker.  Thought our offense flowed better this year when he was not in the game.  But he has helped us win games over his career too.  He will get a chance to play pro ball somewhere and represent Marshall and the E.P.  As for next year we need more athletic guards who can get to the rim and finish and be able to play better perimeter defense.  Interior defense gives up layups at the rim to average athletic guards.  Our guard defense this year was bad.  Too easy to blow by and shoot out, in, or pass in and out.

I agree about more passing and less dribbling. Jon and CJ are all time greats at Marshall and have their names in the record books. And I have enjoyed every single minute watching those 2 and wouldn't change a thing. However they really score a lot BUT they take way to many risks and it hurts sometimes. I actually don't think we will be as good next year coming out of the gate. Just way to many guys that have never played college ball. I do think by the end of the year we will be a team people won't want to play. What I think has to happen in the off season for next year to be really successful....1. I think Talor will have to come in and play a lot like Jon did when he arrived here his first year (confident and aggressive). 2. Kinsey, Cam, Williams and George have to take the weight room serious (very serious). 3. Bennett loses at least another 15-20 pounds. 4. We sign a quality Big and a pure shooting guard. 5. Rucker and Marko are as good as advertised. 6. West needs to come off the bench as a defensive guy or in the offseason get much much better going to the basket and finishing and creating, because that part of his game is just non existant. JMO!!!!

  • All I know is that with a possibility of playing 3 more games, Jon and CJ are departing and taking 4600+ points with them when they walk across that stage to pick up a degree from President Gilbert!!  That's FORTY SIX HUNDRED, Folks!  Nearly 5000!!!  I've learned, the hard way, at times, not to doubt Coach D.  But, damn, that's going to be a daunting goal to achieve with a very young team, with nearly a half of them or so, having LITTLE or NO D1 game experience.

As for those points, wonder if any other D1 team has currently such a prolific scoring duo this year, career wise.  I know the big guy from South Dakoka State and also the guard from Campbell, I believe, both ended up this season with over 3000 career points.  Just wonder if any site, NCAA stats, etc., would have info on the highest career scoring duos on the same team this year.

  • Way back in the late 50s Marshall had Leo Byrd and Hal Greer at the same time (they were a year apart) that had to be a heady time like today with two greats.
