It's amazing how good a kicker can become when he's got good coaching.  This is not directly a knock on Doc -- how much coaching dollars can he spend on getting a good kicking coach?

To be an NFL kicker you have to have two things: 1) a leg that can kick for distance, and 2) accuracy (for both FGs and punts).

The distance is a God-given gift that has to be cultivated.  It's like the guy who can vertically leap 40 inches -- part of that is training, but most of that is God-given.  We knew Vedvik had the leg for distance, but that's only half the battle.

Accuracy can be coached.  Like the 100 mph fast baller, who has to get control of the strike zone.  Vedvik has had a year plus to get the best kicking coaching and training of his life and the time to train.  I'm so glad he's made the best of his time.

Can't see him making Baltimore's roster, but if he puts in 3 more games like that to go with last year's preseason success, there is a decent chance someone else picks him up.

Vedvik was a great college punter and kickoff specialist. I don't think he was bad as a FG kicker, just not exceptional. Perhaps part of his improvement in accuracy can be attributed to better precision by the snapper & holder.

Ryan Bee definitely had an impressive stat sheet. However, I wonder how he did in the Skins' joint practice with the Jets. That is probably more important than the exhibition game.

I'm really glad to hear that Kaare Vedvik is doing so well. It's very tough to recover from what he went through.

The Ravens traded Vedvik to the Vikings for a 5th round draft pick.  He could end up beating out the Vikings kicker or punter -- both are iffy -- to make the 53 man roster.

A golden opportunity lies before him.

In other Herd players in preseason, Litton had a good night for the Chiefs 11-15 for 122 yards with 2 TDs and 1 Int.  However, he did enter the game after Shurmur, who is his competition for 3rd QB (possibly on practice squad).  BTW, Shurmur had bad night 6-15 for 77 yards with 1 TD.

Chase w/ 1 int.  Chase can play for a team in the NFL, its just not going to be the Chiefs.  He is two injures away from playing for the Chiefs.  He is still young so he has some time to bounce around a little bit.
