HUNTINGTON - Members of the Huntington Municipal Development Authority agreed Monday to sell the future site of the Marshall University baseball stadium to the university.

Members of the Huntington Municipal Development Authority, or HMDA, were previously undecided about what to do with the two properties, which consisted of a warehouse and parking lot of the former Flint Group Pigments. They had considered donating the properties to the university or retaining ownership of it in a public-private partnership.

Following an executive session Monday, HMDA members agreed to sell the two properties to the university for $468,000.

Take me out to the ballgame
Take me out with the crowd
Buy me some peanut and Cracker Jacks
I don`t care if I ever get back

  • Hopefully this will allow MU to move forward and keep plans on track. I noticed they sold it to MU cheaper than they purchased it for. Plus, I think MU gets a piece of the ACF lot as well.

Landscape of college baseball is changing.

with the addition of a baseball field at least we're not too far behind to, at least, meet or take advantage of the changes.  i think we all want Marshall to win more championships across the board.  i cringe thinking of other cusa schools who are more successful across the board.

  • I'm happy for the city of Huntington on this.

This will be another place to go for a very reasonable price of admission. Hopefully MU & the town will start hosting invitational HS baseball tourneys & some travel baseball events & tourneys. Doing that will boost the recruiting up a notch and maybe fill up some hotel rooms.
In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.

You do realize that when they purchased it that a few people had to be “paid”. Huntington has always had a few that needed to be “Thanked” for the deal. The Kinetic Park was another that should have been looked at when the lower part was purchased to use as a school.

Certainly. Money makes the world go ‘round. And a pat on the back.

    Maybe fact, maybe accusation?

Seems like that happens in many of these kind of transactions... some for the good of the school, city and state...
