All I know is our deep safeties looked like that they never had played pass defense before. We sat on the sideline down at around the 5 yard line at the big scoreboard end of Lane Stadium. Twice there were two long Tech bombs to a single receiver on a straight down the field "fly" pattern. Two MU defensive backs ran from opposite sides of the receiver and were quite close when he hauled the ball in; neither defender made any play "on the ball". Became, IMO, what actor Roy Scheider described in a movie as a"JAFO". "Just Another Frigging Observer". Every time still early enough in the game for MU to rally when the HERD needed a stop our defensive secondary made the rather pedestrian Tech QB look like Tom Brady as he completed key pass after key pass!! As if our pass defense was predicated on the notion that "after they catch the ball, try and tackle the receiver"!!
