By now, everyone knows he was cut yesterday.  But today, they signed Kyle Shurmur to the practice squad essentially ending Litton’s stay in KC.  Maybe he can catch on somewhere else.  Seemed like he had a few strong preseason showings.

Hate to hear that he won’t be in the practice squad..with NFL coaching he may have been able to make a living as a career back up which is. It a bad way to go.

2nd yr practice squad players are different I believe.  You cannot be protected...meaning any team can snag you as long as they put you on 53 man roster.  Someone else may know better.  I believe that is what happened to D Roberts in NE...the Jets snagged him before Patriots had chance to resign to 53 man.  BTW Vedvik was picked up by Jets

No second year first year no matter. But you are correct that if one team signs a player off the practice squad ( of another team)they must be active for 4 games

Here's some information that I found on NFL salaries and rules regarding practice squad members in yesterday's Ottawa Citizen: "If you’re wondering why they’d do that, staying in top shape and hoping for a call that might not come, know that the minimum NFL salary in 2019 ranges from US$495,000 for a rookie to

$1.03 million for a player with 10 or more years of experience.

Even a spot on an NFL team’s 10-man practice squad pays a minimum of $8,000 per week, which over a 17-week regular season equates to $136,000.

Such spots are available, however, only to players who do not have an accrued season of free agency credit, who have dressed for no more than eight games in any one season and who have not been parked on a practice squad for more than two seasons previously.

Even a full season of practice-squad remuneration probably is more money than even a former NFLer could command in the CFL. And it’s likely more than he’d make in the XFL next year, when that league resumes operation, as 41 players on every 45-man XFL roster will earn salaries between $50,000 and $100,000.

There’s just so much more money available to players in the NFL. Indeed, whereas the 2019 salary cap in the NFL is US$188.2 million, in the CFL it’s $5.7 million (US$4.3 million), less than three per cent of the NFL’s cap."

Due to an unfortunate set of circumstances in Jacksonville with the Jaguars (Nick Foles injury), we may soon get the word of Chase Litton's promotion from the Jags practice squad to the roster. The former Marshall nemesis Alex McGough was cut by the Jags and has signed with the Texans to their practice squad. Any thoughts?

I doubt Chase will be promoted. I think the Jags will sign a veteran QB to back-up the rookie Minshew. I don't think they want a rookie backing up a rookie, but what do I know??

This may well be what happens-we will soon find out. Maybe someone should give Chase a chance. I haven't been very positive about Chase since he jumped to the NFL early on us.

The Jags just traded a fifth round draft pick to Pittsburgh for QB Joshua Dobbs. So that ends the Litton speculation.

The Jaguars need a quarterback with Nick Foles headed for injured reserve after breaking his clavicle in Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs and they found one in Pittsburgh.

According to multiple reports, the Jaguars have acquired Josh Dobbs in a trade with the Steelers. The Steelers will receive a 2020 fifth-round pick in return.

Dobbs was a 2017 fourth-round pick in Pittsburgh and spent last season as the primary backup to Ben Roethlisberger, but slipped to third on the depth chart behind Mason Rudolph this year. He was 6-of-12 for 43 yards and an interception while making five appearances in 2018.

Gardner Minshew took over when Foles was injured on Sunday and will move forward as the starter against the Texans in Week Two.
