  • Been impressed thus far with a couple of our Olympic sport programs.  Men’s Soccer looks improved and they were pretty good last year.  Beat a very good Butler team recently.  I think that coach is really good.  Seems to have a pipeline of getting South American players here.  Grassie can do big things here IMO.  Just another example of going after a good head coach from a lower ncaa division.

Also, I was critical of the volleyball hire, Aganus.  But thus far, she is showing me that I don’t know squat.  We just won a tournament this weekend and beat a couple of pretty good teams in the process.  Jannson’s gf plays as well as she looks! MVP of the weekend tournament.

Women’s soccer continues to be well below average IMO, which just goes to show new facilities don’t solve all your problems.

  • Have met Ari (Women’s Volleyball Coach) and the players.  Was impressed with her and the players.  Just have to see how the season plays out.  What it comes down to, is recruiting the tall players (6’2” and taller.....would like to see quality 6’3” - 6’ 4” recruits.  Can’t win too many matches with sub 6’ outside hitters.  But every college wants the 6’3”+ players and the big schools gobble them up.  Time will tell.

About Women’s Soccer....am disappointed with the program.  The coach should have grown the program to a championship level by now.

  • I’m really looking forward to see this fall & spring Softball season with the team Megan Smith has brought in.  Megan is the “real deal” coach, who came from the Big 12 (Kansas) to be closer to home.  She’s got a great hitting coach (Corey) and an excellent pitching coach (Maddie).  Last year Megan picked up some good transfers (off the transfer wire) and she got three more this year (+1 late pitcher).  This team looks loaded with players that can pound the ball, some new quality pitchers, so we’ll see how things go.  Kind of reminds me of the pre-season excitement that Men’ Basketball is getting, but no one knows about softball yet.
Just a little early FYI.    ;D

I am pretty amped for softball season as well.  She’s brought in some good transfers.  Gonna be knocking even more homers this year.  If we had a pitcher like Andi Williamson to go along with those hitters, we would be hard to beat.

  • May be a little early to judge women's soccer overall this season.  Record now 2-5, with only 2 matches/games at home.  Two Big 10 teams, Mich. State and Michigan, also #9 Vanderbilt, and rival Morehead all on the road.  Today, MU lost to #9 Vanderbilt 3-2 in TWO overtimes, certainly a lot of improvement over earlier matches this season!!

It's the body of work while here. Other than one really good season, not much to crow about.

From reading the article on the game, sounds like we had a lot of luck on our side.  We got outshot 33-3 for the match.  I’m not a soccer expert but that’s a wide disparity in shots.
