  • Good for him.  It looks like a year bulking up would do him some good.  I think hes going to be a very nice pickup for the Herd , we stole him.

  • Devin is a good pickup for us. If he went to a prep school, I think he would of garnered some D-1 offers.

Obviously at this moment, we have only 1 scholarship to give for next year. It is there for Obinna. Should he decline the offer then it will go to Jonaitis. Should an underclassman decide to not return for 20-21, then of course it would open up more.
Unless something changes, Williams/Collins won't get a scholarship until the 21-22 season at best. Redshirt 19-20, play as walk-ons in 20-21.

Or learn in DD's system for a year and then transfer somewhere else on Scholarship; I'd not be surprised by this either.

I definitely think Collins would get scholarship before Beckley Prep guy.

not happening..  I love Devin and he will play here, but no comparison of these 2. Janaitis if he were here now would be the fastest most athletic on the squad. His ability to get to the rim is VERY impressive. Very seldom you will see an aggressive Euro. He is an exception.

All he can do it dunk. Not impressive at the D1 level. Not a good shooter.

    Well that's certainly one opinion.

    Here's his description on phenomhoopreport.com

Robertas Jonaitis- Arguably the most college-ready prospect on the team, Jonaitis is the most reliable and capable scorer on the team. He’s long and wiry, yet surprises folks with his eye-popping explosion. He’s gone from a natural athlete to an all-around scoring threat and can effectively apply pressure from all three levels. Jonaitis still plays well above the rim and already looks like he could be successful playing college basketball, but it’ll just take additional time and strength in order to reach his incredibly high ceiling.

A few weeks ago, I was in Danny's office along with Ajdin Penava, Goran Miladinovic, Marko Serenac and video coordinator Ivan Vujic. All are Europeans. Everyone of them had either seen him live or on video and every one said they had NEVER seen such an explosive European player. As we all know, they are much more known for the finesse style of play.

I was impressed with his video. His looks very aggressive at taking it to the rim. I think we've needed a finisher like that.

  • With all these rave and glowing reviews, reports and anecdotes about Jonaitis, are you all SURE that he is DD's SECOND CHOICE for the open scholarship behind Obinna??

I guess I would be a lot more upbeat about these guys if it was readily known/publicized just what other teams, meaning High majors or well regarded Mid majors. are also actually and vigorously pursuing these two!!!

Cincinnati just offered Obinna and VCU is pushing hard to get him. He has about 10-15 offers.

There was a Beckley Prep last year and a team in Ravenswood as well. The coach in Ravenswood moved his team and consolidated in Beckley
