Stopping the losing streak was a big deal on campus before the Homecoming game with BGSU. If we had lost that game we would be tied with UVA and Kansas State for the longest losing streak in college football. The football coaches got the entire student body involved with Stopping the Steak. The dorms; Greeks and other student organizations plastered the campus with signs to Stop the Streak. Dorms had bed sheet signs handing from the buildings.
The day before the game it rained (I think) and it rained during most of the game. Fairfield had no grass on most of the field by that time of the season with HHS; HEHS and Marshall all playing on the field. The rain really neutralized BG who had a good team. Thank goodness, it was fairly warm for a rainy November game.
I think two MU coaches came over to our fraternity house and to get us involved in making signs on the Sunday or Monday before the game. I seem to remember it was Frank Loria and maybe Rick Tolley. That was a long time ago and my memory fades. :o
