It won't be any better in hoops season either. I broke down and bought a Fire Stick since it has Facebook Watch.

It doesn't matter what it looks like. It's the fact that the game is only seen by 3k people.

My grandparents wanted to watch the Ohio game. Looked all over the place for it before they called me. I had to break it to them and tell them it wasn't on TV for them to watch.

  • I had a friend text me during the Ohio game who’s a big OSU fan “hey man, what channel is the Marshall game on, we want to watch your team?”  I was mortified to reply back Facebook

There's an old saying, (Outta sight, outta mind). It's no wonder people are losing interest in Herd football. It's beyond a damn shame, in fact, it's down right embarrassing! that your grandparents can't find a Herd game on T.V. The late DShoe told me, this should have never happened. We were on T.V more in 90's, than we are now. Hamrick should do everything within his reach to change this.

What's interesting is for a lot of schools, there's an argument that quality TV coverage is impacting fan attendance. It seems to be the opposite for Marshall -- Being completely out of the lime light ruins engagement. It's like not even existing. I give a lot of credit to being on ESPN for the Boise game for the level of fan engagement and attendance for the Ohio game. Just being there built up hype.

It doesn't apply to Marshall but I've actually heard good things about the NFL Network coverage of C-USA. Supposedly, they talk about the games in advance, show highlights, and have a generally good production quality. The kind of stuff that ESPN does for the other conferences. It would be great to be the marquee college program for the NFL Network and be on the ground floor of their FBS coverage. It just sucks being boxed out.

You're both correct, though in fairness 3k streams probably equates to more than 3k sets of eyeballs, 129.

Based strictly on the my experience with the OU game where I watched the last 5:30 or so live on a Chromebook in a hotel room, it did take me a couple of attempts to get to a stream without spam. I went to the FB page and searched Ohio vs Marshall and that landed me on that page the wanted me to sign onto another account. NOT COOL!!!! And that is one more reason why FB is unsatisfying...one should never have to play 'where's Waldo' or have to refer back to the confusing Herdzone site in order to actually watch the game. IF someone is an actual casual fan wanting to check in on the Herd game, that guy would likely do the same search that I did and give up immediately as soon as that sign-in page appeared.

I did watch the replay via a Facebook Watch on my Fire Stick the next day. And as HM said, the stream looked great, which is a huge improvement from last fb & bb seasons where the Fire Stick did not work well. HOWEVER, I had to try searching 5 or 6 times in order to find the game link. Again, not cool.

HM, the problem with FB streaming isn't at all about quality. It's about the inconvenient access. OU vs MU should've been the NFLN game. But once again this conference manages to F-up by somehow having the best or 2nd best platform being the one that gets the last choice in choosing games.

  • I suggest making your thoughts known to those who matter, i.e. Hamrick & Gilbert. I try but for all I know I'm the only one voicing my concern.

There's nothing they can do about Facebook. But ESPN+ hoops games this fall should also be on TV. A-10, Ivy League, Missouri Valley Conference, Summit League, and Southern Conference all have teams that get it done. We should too!

NFLN had the last pick of broadcasts. All Herd games were gobbled up by Stadium and CBSSN before NFLN had a chance to pick.

The CUSA Commissionaire needs to get rid of Stadium and Facebook all together and work out an All-4-1 deal with the NFL Network.

Yet another example of how snake-bit this COMFT (Conference of misfit toys) is...the ONE solid linear TV platform, that's not depending on another conference's ties with ESPN, sucks hind tit on their choices of game. The best platform gets the suckiest games.

It was due to CBSSN and Stadium already having contracts with CUSA. NFLN came in late to replace BeIn.
