  • An explosive athlete can get better at defense if he wants to.

Agreed.  He is an explosive athlete and quick.  Redshirt him and concentrate on gaining strength, playing defense and playing PG.

don't expect Danny to RS a European player. His concern is that they would simply leave and go back overseas and play for pay

It would be great to redshirt everyone. But Goran badly? I dont see that.  He is already around 230+ and moves very well. Like HM said, he isnt going to redshirt the Euro’s.

I have seen him practice and he will help us against teams like WKU (the 5 * center) -  play Doran and Bennett together and it will be very difficult against those two bodies............... JMO

By my count, we've got at least four bodies 6'9" or better, NOT counting Jannson!  When we play WKU we need to tightly body up on Bassey in our man to man.  Bang him, double him in the post, etc., giving him nothing easy in the paint.  We should make him earn every shot, or else show us he can score proficiently from the foul stripe.  Even using Sustic, we have the big bodies to give plenty of fouls on D!!

Bennett emerging and Goran are going to be a huge help on D. Williams may be more versatile than Bennett but he has no inside presence.

Check again.  Williams led the Herd in rebounding AND blocked shots last season, IIRC!!!

If Bassey is surrounded by teammates like last year, he won't be a factor to score. In watching last year's conference semi-final game last year, his teammates got him the ball 2 times in one half. They were much more interested in shooting themselves.
That team played very selfishly. They are one of the poorer coached teams in CUSA

  • Do you think Obinna will be a 1 or 2 year player then try to bolt to play professionally if he is as good (or as old) as people say?  Would Jonatis for 4 years be better for MU?  I've not seen either in person, so I don't know either way.

I don't see Obinna as a 1 and done type player. If he were I think he would have some P5 offers.

What are his current offers? Any P5 schools expressed interest? What about WVU?

Very good, I believe. The fact that he has been on campus visiting his girlfriend already this semester that I know of, doesn't hurt.
His next door neighbor in Chapmanville is our own Devin Collins....

  • If the Herd is ever going to take the "next step", its obvious that Danny D. is going to have to "up" his recruiting targets.  This is one of those "gets" that he really needs, IMO!!
