  • We could be the front runners right now for the access bowl. I know most of us don't even dream this big anymore...but this is just another missed opportunity under Doc.

  • I think Boise will lose soon.  I am not impressed with Boise yet. The way the top 5-8 teams are playing right now no way Boise can hang.  No chance.

If win over Boise, we would be in the top 3-5 in the discussion.  SMU is 4-0 and just beat a P5.  Win over Cincy and take care of business rest of the year, you never know.  Lot of football left to be played.

  • I hope Boise goes undefeated and then loses in the conference championship game. That way our loss to them looks better but they aren't eligible for the Access Bowl. UCF is liable to drop another game as well.

If we go 12-1 with our only loss being a 7 point road loss to Boise in 2nd game of season then we will have a great shot at getting the bid.

There's been a few teams, who have gotten an access bowl without winning their conference. Ohio State comes to mind.

  • Louisiana going to Athens and whacking OHIO U. yesterday doesn't help the Herd, either.  Have to hope that MU just wins; all they can really do. Then the MAC and Mountain West, along with the AAC, better teams need to ALL taking turns beating up on each other.  If Army remains unbeaten, they may be in contention, as well as several better teams in the AAC, like Temple, UCF, Memphis, etc.  Houston has already lost 3 games, and if UCF loses another (perhaps at Cincy after the Herd tames the Bearcats?).  And don't forget some of the top Sunbelt squads, like Appy State, now 4-0, after topping North Carolina's Heels yesterday.  Herd needs to do what it can, like WINNING!!

  • As long as we play UNCC, ODU, F_U pick a general year, we won’t go access bowling. We won’t be front runners while in Conference USA ever.

    This...
A one or two loss MWC or AAC champ who loses to a p5 team would get more consideration than an unsullied CUSA champ unless that team upsets a Bama or Clemson or Georgia or OSU.

  • Not big at all. At least for us. We barely got past the juggernaut Ohio Bobcats at home. We are mediocre at best.

Only the top ranked “G-5” conference champion gets the access bowl bid. Ohio State does not have to be a conference champ to make a NY6 bowl bid since they are a P-5 team. Many P-5 non-champs have made access Bowl appearances.

Hell, Alabama won the NC a couple of years ago and they didn’t even win their division. They were a #4 seed and didn’t even play in the SEC championship game.
