  • So I was just listening to a podcast and they were talking about all of Marshalls home games being on FB.   They did not mention any other CUSA team being that way.   Why are we going this way was it an agreement Marshall made, from the way they were talking on the podcast it didn't seem to be a conference decision.

CBSSN gets first choice, Stadium second and NFLN gets last. The network that gets the rights can put it on any platform they choose. The league nor Marshall are involved in that.

  • Curious as to why the 5pm start this week against UC. Unless it's on mainstream TV, which I am not aware of; to let streaming services to determine start times is ridiculous. What, we average 5-6K viewers online? Is that the reason?

These outlets are placing multiple games per day on streaming and live TV, so they place time for games to fill their entire schedule; also to control competing with their own games.

  • Is next year already decided as it will be the same.I want the games televised, but ESPN + would be much better for us old fans that take a whole quarter to locate it on Facebook.

I don't like Facebook either but it really isn't that hard.

Just "Like" the Live Conference USA page and you don't have to go searching for it.

Every Facebook game, whether CBSSN or Stadium airs on that page.

My contention would that we all know that in the past the 7pm night games drew the biggest crowds. Why let a streaming service dictate the start time when only 5-6K viewers will be impacted. Seems like we can see the forest for the trees. I'd rather have the 7pm start time and hopefully more butts in seats to accommodate our fan base. Am I off base in this thinking?

Although the games may be streamed, CUSA has a contract with CBSSN, Stadium and NFLN. They have the right to put them on any of their platforms on the day/time they choose.

  • I've wondered about that, too. What level of bending over backwards is reasonable for no TV money or exposure? I guess this is what you get when you have to scrape the absolute bottom of the barrel for a media contract.

Does anyone know how the Sunbelt compares to C-USA with this kind of stuff? The AAC and to a lesser extent MWC, seem to have pretty good things going, MAC has their mid-week ESPN games, C-USA is just a mess, but what's going on over at the SBC? Are Appy St., Troy, etc. having the same issues?

Thanks for the info. On the surface, this contract appears detrimental to Marshall. Not giving us much exposure and dictating start times that may not be best for our entire fan base. jmho.

  • The Cinci game should have been a night game.
