Boise State announces it’s eliminating baseball & swimming and diving programs

I believe Boise has a separate TV contract outside of their conference.

  • I dont see how MU gets by without dropping some programs . I would think Boise would be in a better financial situation than MU .

  • Marshall is the minimum number of sports to be in Division 1. If MU drops a sport they could ask for a waiver from the NCAA to be a  Division 1 program or MU could drop to Division 2.

  • Best schedule that I can ever remember and we have to deal with Covid...only 2 months out and I would guess best case scenario is 20000 max allowed at games...that would be ok for most games but Pitt and Boise would have toppled 30000.

Living in NC I would be more surprised if the ECU game happens with fans.

  • Since Covid isn’t going away and is such a divisive issue, can the NCAA just cancel the season and push all schedules back 1 year, and let the players not lose a year of eligibility? This would allow time for the vaccine and still allow us to host Boise and Pitt in 2021.

What happens with the 2021 class? There wouldnt be any scholarships available for incoming recruits.

Also, can't believe Boise is dropping baseball. I thought that was necessary in order to move up  ::)

Good point, I didn’t think of the incoming class. Geezzz, the best home schedule ever in history and it’s most likely going to be skipped over.

  • Double edge sword. Yes it is probably the best home schedule ever. But if we play Pitt and Boise, we may wished we hadn’t. Doc has seen some brutal beat downs at the Joan.

Yes we have had a few beat downs:

    Maryland 104-67
    Virginia 100-64
    So. Miss 101-51

Did you not watch the game against Boise last year? With ANY offense what-so-ever we win that game. The defense kept the Broncos to the lowest offensive production at home in recent memory. Any offense and we win.

I believe those were road games. I said at the Joan. I believe we were talking about home schedules. Maybe you missed that part?

That was his point. We almost beat them in Boise so getting blown out by them at home is far from a guarantee.

True. Nothing is a guarantee. I didn’t think we would get down 40-0 at home against Cincy either.
