  • "In a 7-2 decision that surprised many court observers, the Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that President Donald Trump cannot block a subpoena from the Manhattan district attorney seeking his tax returns.

“Two hundred years ago, a great jurist of our Court established that no citizen, not even the President, is categorically above the common duty to produce evidence when called upon in a criminal proceeding. We reaffirm that principle,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the decision.

The court sent the case back to lower courts for further proceedings."

remember when the liar-in-chief said he'd release his tax returns  by the way, Biden released his.  what a great day!

  • House Ds are blocked from getting his returns . I wouldnt consider it a victory for the Ds though , they more or less passed the buck.

I may be in the minority here but I dont think one political party should have the power to get ahold of ones tax returns , be it democrat or republican.

When Congress seeks information 'needed for intelligent legislative action,' it 'unquestionably' remains 'the duty of all citizens to cooperate,'" he wrote. But, he said, subpoenas from Congress to the president "implicate special concerns regarding the separation of powers. The courts below did not take adequate account of those concerns."
The rulings, in the near term, represent a partial victory for the president -- he will not have to turn over financial documents in the midst of a fraught presidential election. But neither ruling foreclosed the possibility that the president would eventually have to turn over his documents.

i think you are referencing a separate ruling (today??) which pertains to the powers/limits of power that the investigative branches of congress has or should not have regarding subpoena of a president's tax returns for investigative purposes.  the guess is this ruling will be a 6-4 vote against congress.

for me, it's not about political parties but in some cases it sure can be.  any case, at any court level in America, should be able to subpoena any entity's tax info IF cause/relevance is shown to be necessary within the rule of law.  i simply want the truth and justice

bust, don't work yourself up to a heart attack.  while you're doing that yoga, do some reading up about the differences in ideologies and what communism, fascism, marxism, socialism, capitalism or any other ism actually mean.  by the way, to some extent, most modern governments are a mixed bag of those

That's OK, you're doing a good enough job of causing a stink already.
