I'm confident in a W but it's going to be way closer and ulcer-inducing than it should for a 10-year head coach against an FCS opponent.

This looks to be a much more inexperienced EKU team than the one that played here in 2018.  They have a first-game head coach, lost 7 starters and most of their stats on defense, and their QB and passing play last year were simply dreadful.  Aside from EKU returning one of the top kick returners in FCS, this EKU team should offer little to challenge this year's Herd.

I look for a 45-10 type of game.

There is another thing too, last year we had a backup with some playing experience, this year we don't. Every play is a possible play to send us into a second QB with no game experience in college. I'd expect them to want to rectify that as early as possible.  Again, just one man's opinion.

Agree, E-Man.  No disrespect to EKU, but hopefully the HERD can play a lot of "back-ups" in the second half.  Doc is sort of on the spot at the QB position.  A first time starter redshirt freshman, and inexperienced backups.  Wells needs a lot of playing time, especially with an FCS opponent, for both his experience and confidence.  But need to get some PT in for Zban, the primary back up.

Same can apply to a lot of our other younger, newer players.  Give them some game experience.  Can't do anything but help, including with their confidence.  Give them some extra incentive going into the next two weeks of practice with a tough Appy State squad coming in on the 19th.  Current schedule does work somewhat all in our favor:  No road games till October; open dates after EACH of our first two games.  Ideal set up for Doc and staff to prepare thoroughly for both Appy and our first conference opponent, Rice, IMO!

Easy win.  Both QB's play.  Get experience.  Wells will turn out good.  My score guess is over at half at 28-3, Final being 42-10. D should be too much for them to sustain drives.  Maybe one or two.  Offense is questionable of the unknown.  But from the kool aid I'm reading Wells is the man.  Probably faced similar defenses in HS.

No magical gameplan needed for this one.  Herd has too much of a run game and beef and experience back on the o-line.  The better of (2) o-lines are key.  Wells plays under control.  Please protect the ball!  Cavicante emerges as a player!
