can't rule it out but the QB situation and choices since he's been here has me miffed- i just can't begin to guess the dynamics between Doc, him and the offense in general since he's been here ???
I have a hunch about this, I think IG had the skills in practice for a limited offensive scheme, but perhaps wasn't making the right decisions in the games themselves. For many reasons, they kept giving him chances after chances; remember he was Freshman co-player of the year his freshman year. It would be VERY hard to take the ball away from a kid who had those honors.
Now Grant comes along very well, a student of the game and apparently a very smart kid. He has the physical tools to compete with IG, and the mental strength to make the right judgments more often.
Also, while I am pleasantly surprised, let's remember (with a bit of caution) the GW got to start against a very weakened EKU team, a level down and several "opted out" players due to COVID 19. We'll see more next week when the speed on both sides is more equal, CBs close much faster and the D line is putting considerable more pressure on him. I expect good things, for sure, but it may be his journey to this date that made him so good yesterday.
