  • Doc says we are trying to get a game for the 3rd.  I believe we will get a game even if it is last minute.  Someone will need a replacement.

  • In the Rome interview, Doc said that Northern Illinois was ranked when we played them in the bowl game in 2014.  I looked at the last rankings, right before our bowl game, in both the Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Poll.  Northern Illinois was nowhere to be found in the Top 25 in either poll.  I did not realize it but Rome pointed out that the last time we beat a ranked opponent, at home, was in 1976 in the stunning upset of Miami of Ohio!

  • I totally thought N. Illinois was ranked 23-25 going into the bowl game as well.  The Herd needs to stop adding pressure whenever it plays quality P5 teams.  The game is made out to be bigger than it is.  It's another game.  I like our young QB now.  It's been since Cato I can say that I really believe in our QB.  Wells has moxy and "it."

Northern Illinois was never ranked. I think it's one of those things that has been repeated so many times, it's become a fact. They did sporadically receive some votes in the polls but finished with a Sagarin of 72, which is about on par with a typical 8-4 Doc season. However, they were ranked in 2012 and 2013. In 2012, they went to the Orange Bowl and probably would have gone to a BCS bowl in 2013 if they didn't lose in the MAC championship. They had a very good resume heading into the 2014 season.

Louisiana Tech was by far the best win of the 2014 season.

  • I like the quote read off buy Jim of Knox response to the win against Appy!  His running style really reminds me of Bradshaw.  He has more to prove but I believe he may have a good shot in the NFL.  Knox represents Marshall with pride!  Her is a true son of Marshall!

He needs to stay for his senior year, unlike Marshall who left early and didn't make it. He's a very well spoken young man.

If he’s projected to be drafted he should go pro

RBs are not valued in today’s NFL

  • Yeah, he should absolutely go if he has a serious shot at the NFL. RBs have short careers and any game could be his last.

I'll never forget a Tweet from Rockhead directed at Litton when he decided to leave for the NFL. It was basically to seize opportunities as they arise, as you never know what will happen if you don't. It was kind of sad but wise at the time but dang depressing in hindsight.

  • Knox puts down a sub 4.5 or 4.5 low he’s getting drafted.  Great vision and patience.  We need to use the HB screen game.  We did it on one of our drives for points against App State.  Knox needs to show he can catch.  Cramsey needs to get the hb screen game going.

  • There's a lot to factor in. How loaded is this 2021 class in terms of RBs? If he can stay an extra year and move up to a 1st-3rd round draft pick then he should stay. If next years class is more loaded than this one and he will be a 6th round draft pick to free agent no matter what then he should go.

Our 30th season in this stadium and we had never beaten a ranked team there before App. Nice to finally get that win.

And that other win over a ranked team at home (Miami O. 1976) was a bit of a fluke... Miami was ranked in the preseason poll, but had lost their opener and were 0-1. They would have dropped out of the rankings before the Marshall game if there had been weekly polls, but back then they didn’t have the next AP poll until after week 2.

  • I remember Jim Rome being on here in the area. Never cared for his show but he did revive Yakity Sax. Hadn't heard that on radio or tv since Benny Hill. Anyway, good pub for The Herd.

He can play two more years here.  This year doesn't count.  Work on HB passes next year and let him run all he wants this year.  Then if he wants to leave early we've gotten 4 out of him and he's still in his prime.
