I had seen the original tweet. It did upset me to think that he was not aware that Hawaii was not a part of the US.

He says its a photoshopped fake tweet and that he knows that Hawaii is a part of the US.  He also said this has happened before, and some of the fake tweets show disrespect to the armed forces - he clearly responded that such a view is not part of his DNA.

I saw that early this morning and was happy.  I didn't get to know him nearly as well as his mom, but what I did know that seemed out of character for him. He always came across as very respectful

Reportedly his last semester at MU, I guess after he had decided he wasn't coming back to MU, he no doubt either stopped going to classes, or at least put little or no effort into his studies.  He has made a good living, and should have a sizeable fortune, from his pro basketball career.  Of course, that fortune thingy depends a lot on if Hassan is a lot better in math than geography!!  As for his "basketball talent", I just note that the Miami Heat's success on the floor changed dramatically to the better once they GOT RID OF Whiteside!!

IF, IF the NBA had an effective minor league system when he was turning pro or if he'd transferred to a higher level D1 team, he would have made more money in the long run.

After scuffling for more than a few years in lower level pro ball he has become a good NBA defensive center. Give him credit for maturing while he was scuffling.
