Wonder how this might affect where the Herd will play.

Holiday Bowl tie-in is with Pac-12 and starting this year ACC.  If those teams are in search of a bowl game to play, will they be out of luck or will they poach another conferences bowl tie-ins?

I also wonder if this is the last bowl to be affected by Covid this year?

Probably not.  Location and revenue will be the deciding factors.  Small bowls in the Southeast that are basically paid for by ESPN TV dollars will probably still be played--attendance doesn't really matter.  The top bowls that should have reserves, strong community support, and big TV dollars will still be played.  It's the in-between bowls like the Holiday that may have a bigger hurdle to jump in addition to those knocked out by location--Hawaii and Bahamas.

And since records will not exclude any team from a bowl this year, conference bowl tie-ins will dictate who gets picked.  There won't be an ACC or SEC slot opening up because they don't have enough bowl eligible teams to fill their slots.  So, we'll be tied to a CUSA bowl, unless we remain undefeated and all the stars align and we get the G5 NY6 spot.  We could hold out hope that to cut down on travel some conferences might trade bowl tie-ins, but that's probably a slim possibility.

  • Another factor that could come into play would be how the COVID situation will be come Bowl season.  The possibility that some teams will be hit with serious/extensive outbreaks while preparing for a bowl, or in the week or two prior to their bowl date.  Others may opt out altogether, considering their own COVID status, weighing the threat of the Bowl game and location to the overall health of their student athletes, coaches, support staffs, etc.  Wouldn't be surprised if there is some "team swapping" right to a week or so before a bow game is slated.  In such a scenario, hopefully ESPN will keep the Herd in mind if they have to reschedule some of the opponents in their bowl line up.  Perhaps that will be a way MU could end up with a "Power" foe.

This should be a non-issue.  On Thursday night I heard someone say we're rounding the corner with the virus.  Be gone before you know it.

Sounds like a planned devised by former Presidential candidate, H. Ross Perot:  "Wear your mask; take a few of these (placebo pills) every night and morning for a couple of days, and . . . Problem solved!"
