Not if their one loss is in the championship game.
There's way too much football left to be played at this point. All we can do is keep winning and most importantly, enjoy the fact our team is back to being nationally relevant.
First of all, the HERD has to take care of business in its remaining games; that's a given.
Second, BYU needs to beat Boise, especially if the Broncos end up the MW champions.
Third, Appy needs to win out, including the championship, in the Sun Belt.
Finally, the American has to have things fall a certain way. Right now, Cincy is unbeaten, with six games left: next 3 are at home, including games with Houston and Memphis, both of whom have 1 loss. Then Cincy finishes with 3 on the road, including at UCF and at Tulsa. Tulsa and SMU are the other AAC teams with 1 loss currently; UCF has 2 losses, both in conference. Those one loss teams are capable of beating any other team in the AAC, IMO. Same can be said about UCF, who plays at Houston this week end and hosts Cincy on Nov. 21st. Tulsa has YET to play a game at home and its near the end of October; lost a close game AT OK State, and beat both Florida schools in the AAC ON the road! Tulane has 4 league losses but averages over 30 ppg. Navy can be capable, and offensively ECU can be dangerous if their regular QB is healthy. If UC has one loss and makes it to the AAC championship game against a 2 or 3 loss team, and LOSES, then the HERD has a shot, IMO!! Just need teams in that league to cannibalize each other.
