Huntington, W.Va. - With the help of university, state, local and Conference USA officials, Marshall Athletics and the Big Green Scholarship Foundation has developed a plan to welcome fans for 2020-21 Men's Basketball home games that will be played in the Henderson Center this season.
 
This plan will use various health & safety guidelines to ensure a safe atmosphere for student-athletes, fans and staff attending the games while maximizing fan attendance.
 
Per Conference USA regulations, the Henderson Center will operate at 15% of normal arena capacity this season, which will equate to approximately 1,300 fans each of the 15 scheduled home games. "We are excited to be able to provide an opportunity for Herd fans to attend games this season," said Mike Hamrick, Director of Athletics. "With the help of Marshall University and local officials, we believe we have come up with a plan to safely put fans in our arena while maintaining social distancing and proper safety protocols."
 
Ticket Information
Due to the limited capacity in the Henderson Center and the fluidity of the schedule, season tickets will not be available this year.
 
Instead, a game-by-game ticket lottery will be employed for the 2020-21 season.  The objective of the ticket lottery is to seat as many 2019 Season Tickets Holders and 2020 Big Green members, while rewarding both their longevity and recent support.
 
All 2019 Season Ticket Holders will have the ability to "opt-in" to the ticket lottery for a chance to receive tickets to a game during the 2020-21 season.
 
Due to the limited availability of tickets and the demand from those wishing to attend games this season, only 2019 season tickets holders AND current (2020) Big Green members will be eligible for the lottery

COVID-19 Guidelines
To ensure the safety and well-being of everyone who attend games this season, additional measures have been implemented.
As of now, these will include:
Social distancing between spectators seated in the stands.
No groups larger than four (4) seated together
Three (3) seats will be left empty between groups
Two (2) rows in front & two (2) rows behind you will be left empty
Social distancing measures in the concourse.
Digital tickets will be the primary ticket delivery method. Only in emergency cases will physical tickets be distributed.
No re-entry: once you enter the arena with a valid game ticket, you are not permitted to leave the arena and re-enter with the same game ticket.
Hand sanitizer stations will be located throughout the arena.
Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized throughout the game.
Over-the-ear masks are required to be properly worn for all of those in attendance and must remain on until leaving the arena after the game.
Concession operations and the food & drink policy has not been determined at this time.

Since my tickets last year were in the lower bowl, I had the opportunity to enter the lottery for the lower bowl. upper chairbacks and upper bleachers. I chose to enter all three. I just want in the arena.

I believe the lottery is as fair to the fans that they could have done. Those that have been big supporters over the years deserve a better chance pf getting in than others.
If you didn't read the entire story think of this as a drawing from ping pong balls.
You get one ball for being a season ticket holder last year. You get 1 for every $25 dollars you contributed to the Big Green this year.
You get more balls for depending on your level of giving to the Tip Off Club. Also to levels of giving the the Herd Rises campaign etc.
 
I figure I will have quite a few balls in each of the 3 lotteries. Hopefully I get lucky and get into a few games.

All tickets are $50 and an added $10 parking fee per application, not ticket, is added to park in either the West Lot or the parking garage.

Being a current student, I'm hoping they can find a safe way for a limited amount of students to attend games as well.

Not surprising and prudent for the Athletic Department.  They are taking a big hit financially.  Not being able to sell 4,000 season tickets and to average around 6,000 tickets sold (minus students).  If they are only allowed to sell 1,300, it is certainly reasonable for them to sell them a much higher prices.  It's simple supply and demand economics.  Why would they offer tickets at last season's prices, when they are only going to sell roughly 1/4 to 1/5 as many tickets?  And if you really love to watch them play in person, and you really love Marshall athletics, and you know how badly they are hurting financially, then you'll pay the price, if you can afford it.  I'm sure they looked into the price point and decided $50 would sell out the allotment and be the best price to help them in the current situation. 

Season ticket holders should be happy.  Duke has already announced that there will be no fans in the stands this season.

Yes, go to renewal.  Indicate how many lotteries you want to enter each game and supply your credit card information.
Being a side line down stairs season ticket holder, I can and did sign up for all three seating locations.  If you had upstairs chair backs you can only enter 2 lotteries.  Upstairs chair backs and upstairs bleachers

This was exactly my point I was going to post this earlier I get the logistics and that it is supply and demand but that is still a lot more money for the whole season if you were lucky enough to be drew for every game.  Even if you would only get half you’re still paying as much as a normal season ticket for what could be way worse seats.

Exactly.  They're making no distinction whatsoever between the folks sitting down in the lower bowl chairbacks and those sitting up in the "nosebleed" bleachers.  Looks like the Athletic Department is trying to make the money they use to get from around 6,000 fans a game from the 1300 or so who will be in the CAM for games this season.

No where does it say all tickets are $50.

It’s 2020 not 1995. We should be able to log on to our account on HerdZone and opt in or out for each game. Not all in for the whole season.

Also we are playing back to back conference home games Fri/Sat...Marshall should be able to split those games up for the fans. Example. If I get the Fri game, I should not be eligible for the Sat game. Give more of our fans the option of seeing the Herd. Some people will not agree, but we have a lot of good fans that deserve to watch the Herd. I hate missing Herd games but with the limited attendance, I would give up the chance to watch back to back games so more fans can watch.

I agree very fair.  Rewards season ticket holders and BG members and uses the PP system.

I don't think you get 1 entry for every $25 donated to BG this year, you get 1 for donating <$300, 2 for $300-$999, 5 for $1000 to 1500.

You must be thinking of priority points, you get 1 entry for every 25 priority points you have earned.

one entry for being season ticket holder
there are also multiple entries rewarded for being in the Herd rises depending on donation amount.
as for the tip off club, you get 1 entry for $150, 2 entries for $300, and so on up to 5 for $1500 and 10 for $5000 and above.
there are multiple entries also if you are contributing to the Herd Athletic fund which I am not familiar with.

i'm thinking i'll have plenty of entries in each lottery as well.

Does that 1300 figure include students at all?  Will the Pep Band, or a segment thereof, be allowed at home games and, if so, are they included in the seating limitation figure?  Same question applies to the cheerleaders?  the dance team?  the ROTC honor guard group leading up to the national anthem before the start of the of the game??

There will be some seats for students.  I know that but the first 6-8 weeks or so there will not be students on campus since they will not be back after thanksgiving.
