  • Before the game I noticed four men dressed in purple jackets lined up on the sideline  around the ten yard line. They appeared to be in their late sixties/ early seventies. Hamrick was with them  so I kept waiting for them to be introduced. They never were. I just noticed on Twitter they also came to the fountain ceremony and all four played for ECU in 1970. I assume they played in the MU.
If they played in that game it was big mistake not to recognize.

  •  Very cool they came.  Yes they were named and recognized by Hamrick and stood during the fountain ceremony, but I also was surprised it wasn’t announced during the game too.

  • Not a good day to criticize the administration with all they did to make sure the game happened in the first place, that they held the most emotional fountain ceremony of all, that MU gave posthumous degrees to all the deceased players, recognized the visitors at the fountain ceremony and obviously gave them a VIP treatment.  Very few people get on the field, believe me I know.

NOT a classy thing to complain about.

They were acknowledged during the fountain ceremony.  All 4 played vs The Herd 50 years ago

  • Just another example about the impact of the crash.  Very impressive of those former ecu players to visit Huntington on the 50th anniversary. ECU has in my opinion had a great fan base. I hope they enjoyed their visit and and everyone let them know they are appreciated.

The ECU men were introduced at halftime during the game and they were giving a standing ovation. Hamrick has done an outstanding job with the unusual circumstances. I've been critical of Mike in the past, but I have to give him props for a job well done this season.

Very class of those guys to show up. Glad they got a standing ovation.

  • Still can't figure why we didn't play them on the 14th.  I can't imagine anyone who would have opposed it.
